I actually find that kind of discussion really interesting, which I think is why I was drawn to the series pretty strongly. The spiritual aspect of faith sparks my curiosity, so it was very neat to see a figure of the religious establishment discuss it and note that institutional dogma has led the religion astray. It's a shame that for 90% of Christians and those turned off by Christianity alike, recitations of oaths, hymns, Bible verses, and condemnations are all they're really exposed to.
