I got there around 11:45Heidi was playing her last track or two. Audiofly went on just after & they played great in my opinion. The crowed seemed to love it. They were really the main reason I went last night & wish they would have played a longer set. I didnt stay much longer after M.A.N.D.Y. went on. I wasnt really into what they were playing & heard from a friend it didnt really get any better so im glad I left when I did.

Darrell says "forget it, you scared her away" to which I reply "No, YOU scared her away". Douchebag inquires "What do you mean by that?" to which I retort "well either she didn't think you were hot, or maybe she thought you were trying to pick me up". Darrell says "Are you calling me a homo?" and I quickly respond "maybe, do you think I'm cute?". Douchebag Darrell gets VERY upset with all this and starts freaking out getting in my face and puffing up his chest like some exotic bird trying to impress the females. I mock him a little, pretending to apply lipstick and puckering my lips, after which I put the biggest shit-ass grin on my face and just smile at him while he goes on yelling about how he is going to fight me and I am going to be sorry. Margaret and Jay stepped in and attempted to deflect Douchebag's verbal aggression while I winked at him and acted coy. Obviously Darrell has some sexual identity issues as he took out his insecurities on all 3 of us. Thanks to Margaret and Jay I was safe from Douchebag Darrell's empty threats and over-the-top masculine puffery. I still think he thought I was cute. I had my hair done up all German-style for Heidi & M.A.N.D.Y.. He even brought his douchebag-posse of friends over to check me out. |

Ok, so weeknights are tough but this was a lineup worth braving it for. I'm a huge Audiofly fan and thought they might have the opening slot (as they have elsewhere on the tour) and so got there at 10:30. Heidi was on doing an excellent opening set, great tunes that were a bit more melodic than I expected. The place was still mostly empty though, Toronto crowds aren't early ones. Within an hour though that all changed and the Social quickly became rammed. Really nice mixed crowd, mostly younger, very friendly and polite. No attitude, they just want to have fun.
Found myself on the dancefloor and Audiofly came on shortly before midnight. Lots of fun dancing to them but they sounded a bit subdued, so as to not upstage MANDY I guess. After 1 1/4 hrs MANDY came on and started right off with a bang. The crowd went nuts, this was what they were waiting for. Lots of interesting sounds, a German drinking/folk tune, starting the lawnmower engine and playing on a tin cup. Great comic effect and pushed the fun mood even up some more. Really nice to see quite a few hometown djs in attendance checking it out, having fun and (gasp) even dancing too. I left at 2 and the place was still packed. Does anyone know what time they went until?
Kudos to the Embrace crew for yet another stellar night.
this night was almost perfect for me
aside from some shit at the end which i wont get into,
everything went according to plan
fun dinner with my boys then just a smackin good time talking shit and having a laff while wiggling our asses

even when it was bad i was feeling it
just one of those nights
i really enjoyed audioflys patience although i felt a tiny sense that they were geeving slightly
