Wait, does this count as a hardware synth?

Don`t judge a book by its cover

So far

I haven't done any percussion work, but I thought maybe you'd want what Ive done so far. I've spent a few hours on it, so it's not much, but.

Actually I think there is quite some potential here.. I like the feel of your track so far.

edit: another thing.. Ive used my cheap hifi headphones for this, so I'm not sure on how the mixing is. I tend to overpower the kick some when I use these.

Just make it amazing.

I wish to reiterate that I am now exchanging production lessons (by the hour) for blowjobs. PM if interested.

Posted by daveth on May-12-2008 14:10:

Do the blowjobs have to be by the hour too?

Depends how I'm feeling that day. But if your jaw starts to hurt, I require that you switch to a handjob.

Drunk

This is my new sample after a rework by Beyer (Thanks to him) and me :

SAMPLE HERE

Posted by MOK on May-13-2008 14:32:

Huh. I liked the older sample better.
I don't like the drum tones at all, particularly their mismatched attacks. The bass is still pretty small, lacking. The string's sound good, but very thin, and in the end didn't seem to help, despite their discreet quality.
Comparatively, your original clip had more impact... But this is all under the assumption that you're trying to make a dance tune.
What kind of feel is your goal?

Posted by Beyer on May-13-2008 15:43:

It's not by any means a finished product.

The kick drum is too loud, at least a couple of db.

Keep in mind that I only changed a few sounds, and applied eq, so more elements will fit better in the mix. The drum loop is probably not exactly in time with the project, so it will probably need time stretching in order to fit exactly. And another thing is that there is almost no percussion in there.

Keep working on it! It could turn out nice!

couldnt help but smile on that one

MOAR ANALOG

my advice? Its all in the mixing and use of proper instruments and samples. Get a solid kick you like, make a bass that goes well with it, then build on that, all the while making sure the mix does not get muddy or confusing at any time. If it does, take one step back, and see what you did wrong

stay home and practice

srsly, i've been at this for 14 years now, and am only now getting decent at it (granted I've only been dj'ing for half of that time) and a majority of that time was working solely with hardware synths (mostly vintage ones).
