I went to see Ironman and I was a bit grumpy cuz I am NOT a movie person. But i looooooooooooooooooooooove that movie. Ironman is my fav super hero!

How was it in comparison to other 'Super-Hero' marvel comic style movies?

Actually, let me rephrase that question... Do you like any of the Spider Man and/or Fantastic 4 flicks?

No offense intended, but if you do, I'm not going to see this movie.

So far EVERY single Marvel Comic movie that has been made, has been an utter failure in my book.

All 3 Spider Man's were aweful & Fantasic 4 (1 & 2) were down-right sickenining (Jessica Alba needs a full on Lobotomy).

I still want to give the Iron Man movie a fair chance. With Robert Downey Jr. as the main protagonist I feel this movie may hold some merit. But I'm so damn gun-shy to the fact that Hollywood has ruined every Marvel Comic movie thus far (usually with horrible script work and the worst actors on the planet), that I have a tough time sacrificing another $8 + 2 Hours outta my life for another pile of dog shit.

/end rant.

Just look at rotten tomatoes. Ironman got a 94%.. 94!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no movies get 94 anymore.

[rottentomatoes is a gathering of ALL the reviews from websites/magazines/newspapers and averages the reviews]

I'm aware of Rotten Tomatoes, but completely forgot to look at it for this flick. DAMN! A 94?! Well, well, well... Looks like I'll have to give it a chance after all.

a young guy is having a going-away party in NYC cuz he's moving to Japan to work for a big company...so the movie starts with the video-camera journal a friend is making for this guy to take with him and remember the last night he spends in NY...well then the "monster" basically blows up the statue of liberty and the city goes under attack and we get to see the hand-held camera view of what this small group of friends experiences. it has its moments where its really fun/scary in a silly way and the characters are generally likable...just like any other group of friends really...it has some pretty dumb moments though that make it 100% sci-fi fiction and unbelievable. theres a whole backstory online about where the monster came from, what the monster has to do with the guy moving to Japan, the company in japan and the monster, etc...its pretty crazy how in-depth it all is. i can't keep up.
but its a fun concept.

I enjoyed Cloverfield for what it was. a new take on a Monster movie from the POV of someone using a video camera as the attack happened.
