You've said that before and it does intrigue me. If you don't care much for starcraft, you won't like the new one either. Same game, same mechanics, just new graphics and new units.

yeah, but the antiquated unit cap seems to have been given the arse (or at least extended) and i thought the vids so far have looked cool. obviously i dont expect to like it as much as FA (no strat zoom or ballistics) but its starcraft ffs. i still need to check it out so i can maintain a knowledge of the genre

it doesn't. GQ is extending his net of worthlessness to encompass everything he knows fuck all about.

The supply cap is the same, unless you meant the selection cap, then yes, that's been increased to 150 so far. There's a good chance they'll set a smaller limit before the actual release. It will definately be more than 12 though.

How come I see way more troops punching on in videos than I ever saw in starcraft?

If they've kept yet another really low unit cap then yeah, fuck that. Not interested.

I don't really mind the supply cap. So long as I don't hit it... and I haven't done that since my noob games when I Was like 8 . When it was just like... ohh crap he's got 4 siege tanks mass carrriers!

Maybe it's been too long since you've played starcraft. None of the sc2 videos show anything coming close to the supply cap. Maybe more like 1/3rd of it. In any case, those videos are mostly for showcasing the engine and models, none of it reflects how actual gameplay looks like.

In a real starcraft game, you'll almost never come across a situation where you meet the supply cap and you'd want to keep on massing a considerable number of extra units, because then you'd have pretty much won the game anyways.

If you like Star Wars, You should try Empire At War, Its a pretty cool RTS.

Yeah, I think youre right. Its been too long. Or maybe its just that my friends and I just didnt know how to play it properly haha. Hell, I never saw a manual or anything.

If you watch some very low level games it's usually both players being timid and massing units until they can't mass any more and then they attack eachother and whoever wins that battle wins the game. They feel more secure doing this because they don't have enough knowledge about the game to spot weaknesses in their opponents' builds and react to them accordingly. On high level games there's constant battles from start to finish, so units are constantly dropping as fast as they're being produced. I often play games that drag on for over 30 minutes without either me or my opponent exceeding 150/200 supply.

I can see the supply getting close to or at limit in more passive matchups like TvT or TvP (I always play zerg), but usually when that happens, an engagement is long overdue.

This is exactly it. Darn it... this thread is making me want to play starcraft! Anyone have xfire thats up for a game? Mynes darkarbiter2... and I suck... haven't played in 6 months but I know a few build orders. If ahem for some unknown reason you can't play on bnet I'm up for hamachi. Pkc?
http://www.blizzforums.com/showthread.php?t=772 some nice build orders. The AI is quite good at rush... but fails after that IMO... you should be able to beat the ai.

Yes!

It's a "sequel" to Total Annihilation by Cavedog Entertainment / Chris Taylor! Loved that game back in the day!
