edit: retracting all comments, becuase I don't know what's going on.
very disappointed in the format change...period.
hehe oh i wont. dont worry
. and honestly .. nothing towards gay people. its cool and its their life. but the ones that make it SOOO known while out there . not a fan .
FFS do you people REALLY think AD/D or Circa are changing the format of the room because the don't want gay people there? lol
Clubs don't change format when somethings going well and successful. If they're changing the format of the room, that means that there weren't enough people going for that room. I was there a few weeks ago for Tiga and the room was dead... empty rooms don't pay your rent, your staff or your other expenses.
The official pride after party is at Circa this year by the way.

Speaking of Circa - anyone spinnin' 2nite... headliners or superb local talent?

Isn't it a bit hypocritical that Circa is hosting the "official" Pride Week closing party this year, while quietly shoving their loyal gay club-goers out the back door?

Activate: don't presume that the simple fact of them doing it is proof that it's the right decision. The room is packed every time I go in there, but ADD probably presumes that by changing the format, they can gain more new guests then they lose. I just think it's a shame, and a shitty way to operate an entertainment business. Judging from the comments of illiterate idiots on this forum who think "teh gayz should stay on teh gay street", is it really so surprising that gay club-goers would view this decision with skepticism?
The gays don't drink as much as a commercial/hip crowd will. Bottom line isn't the sexuality of the patron, it's how much they spend at the bar.
CiRCA wants to make money, bottom line.
Damn double post

Originally posted by barbina or that they booked the after party before they decided to shut down the room... can't back out now.. too much moneys already been spent .. I'm not going. Kick everyone out then say come back for one more! No. fuck that. I'll listen to my friends who work there and who are fighting for their jobs and for the room they built

Originally posted by MissK So are you saying that you know officially the reason they would shut down is because they don't want a gay crowd?? I highly doubt it. Barb, clubs are first and foremost business, the owner's interest is money generation. It's safe to say that it wasn't drawing the crowd and there was money to be made in other places.

Originally posted by barbina I'm just going by what I was told, like i said I dont disagree with what you're saying, I'm just saying by being there, seeing the crowd, talking to people who work there etc theres never been an issue filling that room and making money.. its out of the blue. it might just be shit stirrers running their mouths because theyre losing their jobs and room but still... no matter what.. circa is cutting the best room it had for another pathetic hiphop room
-agreed
A busy room doesn't always equate barsales. Geez, read activate's post again to understand this concept.
Why do you think the cover for DJ driven gay special events is higher than for straight ones? It's because gay people don't drink as much. I go to a lot of gay events (as a straight guy) and I often see people paying their cover, maybe having a drink or 2, popping a pill, buying a bottle of water and constantly refilling it at the bathroom.

Originally posted by barbina you cant generalize that gay people dont drink as much as straight people. thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard. and saying that they do more drugs? look at the guv. thats straight. people do a hell of a lot of drugs there and their bar sales in certain rooms suck. clubs like fly, buddies and straight are obviously doing well at the bar with a 90% gay crowd.
