lol, DJ Rouz in full effect!
I know the best trainwreck, the longest it's whatever u wanna call it. Listen to DJ Jean - live at trance energy 2002!!!

People make mistakes,
DJ's are people,
Therefore, DJ's make mistakes.

Have you ever heard a live singer sing a little bit sharp, or even flat? Ever hear a live drummer in a rock band get off tempo a little bit? Ever hear me DJ (Hehe)? I know that I would be a nervous wreck if I was playing for a few thousand people and having to be subject to trainwreck-spotters (aka DJ's at a party who arn't DJ'ing).

Thanks Great Outdoors

That's funny, i was just listening to that set.

and yeah, there are quite a few sketchy mixes. Even the very first one is a little off.

even the gods of DJing mess up sometimes.

However, neither of those posted is a trainwreck i would say, just a little bit off..

i just got my decks, i will post some trainwrecks for you! hold on a minute.

lol.. what's this all about?

Posted by DJ LIQUID on May-21-2002 06:09:

this threads getting good

Posted by JohnSmith on May-21-2002 06:15:

OK, now THIS is a bad transition. mixing melodies between two beautiful tracks.

the melodies go really well together, but near the end, the incoming song is going way too fast. i would hate to do this in public, but this mix sounds SO good when it's done right.

but i screwed it up, so i did a backspin at the end just for the heck of it. probably wore out my record a bunch doing that.. oh well.

And this second one.. ooh, it's nasty too, just couldn't get the beats matched.

Hopefully i will get better with some practice!

we are all human, even PVD.

*i removed the links, couldn't host them for long there*

hmm..ok...thx for sharing JohnSmith.

I would like to post one or two (I distinctly remember one from Tiesto's DD set) but I have no concrete server to host it on- someone give suggestions?

The PvD one was pretty obvious (double beats towards the end of the sample) but I guess you have to give it to the man for correcting it so fast.

Ampburner is right...

(set can be downloaded from this site btw, if you would wanna check it out...)

this is about as bad a transition as I have om my comp right now (of course I only keep the good sets), but give me an example of what you consider a trainwreck then? (well known sj's only)

You're absolutely right brotha, this is so off beat, but anyways this a great post, keep;um kommin....

A noticable flaw was his transition from Lethal Industry to Hidden Flight. He fixed it but definately something I picked up. Probably wouldn't have heard it live though. I haven't listened to the whole thing, only the video.

Posted by Jah on May-22-2002 07:18:

hehe yeah i think the great thing with the top djs and why they dont even sound that bad when it does fuck up is they correct it so fast! hats off!

Posted by rafale on Oct-17-2003 13:37:

PvD fucked up in his Ultra 3 2001 set in the 39th min..

Posted by CarlosM on Oct-17-2003 16:17:

Er... possibly. Or under the influence of alcohol.

The point is, though, that they are only humans too. Everyone makes errors sometimes...

Posted by nrjizer on Oct-17-2003 20:03:

By far, the worst trainwrecking DJ is Mario Piu. Download his Trance Energy set.... Almost EVERY mix is a trainwreck.

And I dont think he was having a bad night eiehter, from what Ive heard, that kind of mixing is common from him

Posted by T:REBEL on Oct-17-2003 21:11:

Everyone makes mistakes. Even the best DJs out there.

Now, if it's happening too often, then that DJ needs to get back to the basics.

Posted by Special_K on Oct-17-2003 23:39:

guys get your terms straight. Having your beats slide a little bit off IS NOT TRAINWRECKING!!!!!

a trainwreck is when the beats are off so much that you can distinctly hear both beats from start to finish.....the little galloping phasy soubnd you get when they are a little bit off is no big deal. Most often a trainwreck is induced when your beats are a little bit off then you go to correct but you correct the wrong way IE: speeding up the record when you need to slow it down.

Posted by DJ Kibon on Oct-18-2003 06:03:

I've found that it's much easier to criticize other DJs once you've been working on learning to mix well yourself.

Doesn't mean that I'm going to be in the ballpark of say, PVD anytime soon, but it tunes your ear to notice things that you wouldn't have heard previously.
