McCain wants this vs. the 17,000 person rallies Obama usually caters to.

McCain rallies can get up to what like 300 geezers tops? According to CNN anyhow.

Not exactly the lively spectacle that is an Obama event.

Who the shit turns up to a town hall meeting apart from old neighborhood farts anyway? McCain's type of crowd, hopefully Obama doesn't take the bait quite yet.

I loved Carville's comment after the speech: "I've really gotta hand it to the McCain people... I mean, after all, they were able to fill an entire room with people older than John McCain!"

I'm pretty sure that's just Presidential election talk for "debate." It's so the peasants don't feel like their potential new leaders are talking over their heads.

I fucking love Carville - just one of the classiest liberal (well, I guess only somewhat by todays standards) arse, and I love him for it.

He and McAuliffe are both legends in the party... but both of them have a habit of being blinded by their loyalty to the Clintons. Luckily it hasn't consumed Carville's sanity yet, but he and Paul Begala both got the boot from CNN for awhile for their overtly biased coverage in January/February. Carville recovered his sense, but unfortunately McAuliffe still has his head up his ass.

12:1 it's in an arm wrestle with Obama's wife.

Paul Begala is also a guy I love, but only because he's just a completely soggy-limpdick-wet-one for the Dems, and actually probably discredits the party more than he helps them.

Still, he's like the original fanboy - and anyone who's ever posted in MD on http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums can appreciate that

lol, that's an interesting description. For any fans of The West Wing, Paul Begala was the inspiration for Josh Lyman's character.

I think McCain needs to select "Leather Face" from Texas Chainsaw Massacre as his running mate to solidify his position amongst inbreds.

That doesn't really help him with any new demographics though.

I thought he was having trouble with the traditional conservative base?

Badoom tsssssssssssssssssssssssssss

(Ok I'm not that anti-conservative )

Jesus christ is EVERYONE on TA a liberal? Living near San Francisco is already bad enough, but jeez.

I wouldn't expect to find many conservatives drawn to the atmosphere of hedonistic partying and drugs that surrounds EDM.

Better bet would be how long it takes some redneck yank to shoot Obama if he gets in.

Posted by Krypton on Jun-05-2008 04:36:

McCain = Bush III

The Republicans have brought us the largest increase in government ever. Our national debt is at record levels. How is McCain going to bring down government expenditures if he wants to continue spending billions of dollars in Iraq? It boggles my mind.

Posted by The17sss on Jun-05-2008 05:41:

Yes, Yes... but also, what exactly does anyone think Obama will do to lower taxes, ease the high prices of gas/food, and cut government spending? Nobody has a legit answer to that because he's just a conventional tax and spend big government suit like the rest of them, who is just a better salesman.

Posted by mndeg on Jun-05-2008 07:24:

can't cut taxes when there are trillions of dollars in debt
commodity prices are not controlled by the president

Posted by Capitalizt on Jun-05-2008 08:43:

The real conservatives in the room should be glad to take a tax hike if it means we ge the f*ck out of Iraq. This war has already cost nearly a TRILLION dollars. Obviously I'd rather we not spend this money at all, but if we are going to waste that much taxpayer money, I'd rather it be spent on AMERICANS instead of an endless blackhole in the middle east. Most traditional conservatives would agree with this..but unfortunately the conservative movement has been hijacked by a group of huge government/pro-war wackos.

These guys need to go down in flames before we can go anywhere. You conservatives should embrace an Obama presidency...You should hope for a devastating defeat for Mccain and the other neocons because that is the only thing that will force the republican party step back and reevaluate itself...the only thing that can make the GOP realize what a huge mistake it has made in abandoning it's limited government roots. We need a democratic blowout this year. It's our only hope of getting a fresh start with a true conservative movement next election.

If the repubs win or even come close to winning, it will be seen as a justification for the insanity we've seen from Bush and other big-government republicans these past 8 years.

Posted by Spacey Orange on Jun-05-2008 08:56:

it's 1996 all over again. i bet he republicans are kickin themselves right now.

Posted by RJT on Jun-05-2008 10:39:

The best part of all of this is that I think I genuinely believe that as the general election campaign really gets into gear here, the more we see of McCain, the less faith people are going to have in him - and I'm basing this solely on his oldness.

Seriously, I can't imagine people watching a geriatric old man with a forced smile that says little more than "John, try to remember where you are right now - focus, focus, focus." and thinking to themselves "That's it - that's the man I want as president."

The more of McCain that the general public sees, the better. I really think the "Oh shit - it's scary how close this guys is to death!" platform is going to play well for Obama.
