I d/l trance energy 2008. It was ok, had some neat sounds in there however the 3:30sec intro string cheese isn't really my thing.

I guess I'm looking for some techy trance that's manipulated and aggressively worked. I want to "hear" what the dj is doing not just relying on the track to move the music.

Does that make sense...Trance mixed like techno?

All this talk about goa and psy....you know, I don't know what those are!?

does infected mushroom fall into that...I didn't care for them/it/him/her

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!

Seriously though, don't blame me for trying to get you to listen to good music outside the realm of the absolute shit you seem to be looking for.

Trance hasn't improved any recently, stop resisting and just switch to house like everyone else has

Edit: lol Rob, well played

um....I came to tranceaddict looking for trance.
I started this thread with a pretty clear goal: find trance I might like.

Thanks for coming out!

Hey TA!

I used to listen to trance when I first started partying a while back, however I kind of fell out w/ it tho around 2000-02. For me, trance seemed to become all about the big monotonous builds and a formulaic song structure. I'm still kinda into the Tech-trance side of things (does that even still exist!?) but to be honest I haven't listened to the genre in years. Friends try to get me to come out to the big jocks but at those prices...meh.

So, my question is...If you could name one "trance" dj mixset to win me back what would it be?

I WANT TO BELIEVE!

Forget about Trance at the moment. Start listening to Progressive House. Avoid tech and minimal house.

I know what your saying, the older style shit from say BT, maybe even Ferry Corsten. etc... good stuff, not so ovbious, puts you in a trance
I don't konw where that stuff went. I wish we could find in. Maybe people now don't want to find it. Hear you though...

You see that Black Hole logo in the beginning there?
It stands for what the 2000 - 2002 period for trance was...
That vidja only tells me what shite it really was at that time.

I do agree with others here that good trance is out there today, but one has to search for it, but it isn't that trance from earlier eras is automatically better, it's more like nostalgia makes the old gems shine more brightly and makes the old shit more forgettable.

And i want good quality contemporary trance suggestions, not a blast from the past or to venture out to genres i don't really like.
I'll be checking out that Kr00t0n mix.
