Usually ending with the majority leaning towards the 800 (pretty much proven to be the inferior mixer, in sound quality and build), due to so many jocks loving the cheesy effects unit built in. Though I haven't used either myself, I own a DJM-400 & am already tired of the gimmicky effects that are built in, and have almost completely stopped using them. My next mixer will most definately be a Xone:92. It's the mixer that has everything I want/need & nothing that I don't. |

works. Please use it.

Also, if "more gigs" means playing top 40 and rock for cash, then I never want to have "more gigs" than anyone.
Keep it. ![]()

| Originally posted by Clovis Rob, clearly you dont know how to DJ. You're supposed to take every single gig possible now matter how shit and retarded for "experience", compromise your musical taste and integrity whenever possible, buy music you don't like because the idiots you play for do, and generally acquiesce to everything. Then once you have experience you get a rider and you can demand 8 DVDJs and a DJM-1000 and 10 bottles of grey goose and a DJ Whore corral behind the booth. Let us know when you figure out how to play with the big boys |
This thread delivers!!
Can I also say that cheesy music is seriously under-rated. This is fucking tranceaddict after all!

Obviously some mixers are better for different styles. You're diverting attention from you original post and the fact that you're making fun of someone based on their mixer choice (which isn't exactly shabby) and the tracks they play like some cranky, immature, 13 year old kid. |

I dont see what all the fuss is about. For me, DJM-800 is the choice for sure over Xone 92 and DJM-700. I've asked many "mainstream" folks over where I am at, and they without exception said that my DJM-800 is much better stylin' than Xone 92 (which I dont own, but I provided links, photos, specs). Plus, my DJM-800 is made in Japan, which I am very happy about. Plus DJM's effects arent as cheesy as some on here try to claim. Its all about using them in the right places and at the right time.
In any case, this shouldn't be a debate of what is better or what is worse - both brands are very good. The real question is what you want to use it for. And that doesnt make the equipment superior.
Compare the specs instead!
No offense, but there's some serious elitism going on here in some posts (no fingers pointing at anyone). I've seen enough of that bullshit on Discogs forums, sadly enough its seeping on here too. Its elitist enough to consider underground detroit techno superior over trance or whatever other music comparison.
Besides, thats NOT the title of the thread ... we're supposed to be comparing 700's vs. 800's. And 800's are slightly better - newer model. Find a good dealer and you can get it for under $1300. I got mine for $1350, brand new, Made In Japan.
BTW, I REALLY miss the sampler that was available in earlier DJM models but absent in the 800's ...
EDIT: I bet RJT thinks that techno music is superior to all other music ... how elitist is that. Most people will find that offensive. Besides, EDM lovers are a small minority in the world. Which clearly shows how "superior" electronic music is! But its not the case. There's no such thing as one style of music superior to another, but merely a listening preference. Just like its offensive to say that French culture/language/etc is inferior to German.

| Originally posted by Clovis I don't think RJT was particularly tactful in his post, especially since I know Woody personally and he's a great guy, but the points he raised were...true. Countering with "Woody has more gigs" only served to illustrate the point. Both mixers are useful, I've played on the 800 loads of times and enjoyed the punchy bass in certain situations, but by and large, for people who like MIXING, and blending music, the Xone is just better. We could post a list of DJ preferences and it would speak for itself. |
