haha.

I was going to be more polite about it by saying "who would you rather play for...a winner or a loser?"

as if this doesn't happen on countless teams in countless sports...and, as pointed out, Poland has done the very same thing, no?

Posted by Capo di tutti on Jun-11-2008 19:48:

playing for your country should never be just about for looking out for #1...actually that should be one of the last on the agenda

Neither can I... he(Podolski) moved when he was only 2 years old!!!!

and Klose is only half Polish and he moved to Germany like 20 years ago too!!!

Posted by Ania_xox on Jun-12-2008 01:05:

Just because he has a Polish last name, does not make him strictly "Polish".
If he feels at home in Deutschland then he should bear the flag on his jersey proudly - at least he knows who he is.
What I find ridiculous in the UEFA cup is people who bandwagon with certain teams and assume that team's identity when speaking about the games:

i.e. A non-italian saying "oh man our defense kicked ass" about team Italy ... ask one of them to pronounce Juventus for a good laugh.

or a non-german waving the deutsch flag around like a moron assuming a foreign identity

I think the patriotism adds so much to this tourney... like no matter how many times Poland's offensive players rock the field or how many times the defense fucks up large... I still get goose bumps during the national anthem and I still curse KURVA MAC when Smolarek gets dangled

anyway KitchTA - relax with that negative passion there - czekaj na jutro.. damy Austri w dupe... nie martw sie, licze ze znowu z Niemcami sie spotkamy w tym turnamencie

chinamon: i think that if you were really into soccer and we're in my situation you would understand my frustration...

its kinda dumb to just assume that my thread is pointless because ur not into soccer, obviiosuly there are people here that are....

like ur ALWAYS on the ball to tell people they're opinions are shit, without taking the time to understand.

(note: for someone that says the is the such a shitty thread, uve been pretty active in this shit with so many posts)

what a retarded post, no one assumes a national identity when supporting a team! its simply that, supporting a team. Its a sport, a game, get over it.

You give way too much signification to waving a flag/wearing a jersey/supporting a team.

Get real.

i completely disagree man..

i kno exactly what shes talking about... there was a guy that posted in a different thread that said "oo i dont follow france anymore... FORZA ITALIA"" (meanwhile this guy was from pakistan, neither france nor italy) its annoying for people that support a single team to have ppl bounce around between the most favourite teams for no significant reason..

i think that waving a flag or wearing a jersey is very significant btw..

personally (being polish) i could never just play it off like im italian by supporting them, wearing their jerseys, and waving their flags just cuz i think there team is good.. its so low to do shit like that..

its a similar thing do wen people claim certain nationalities, like oh im Portugese.. meanwhile, they were not born there, they dont speak the language, the know nothing about the culture, but there great grandmother's roomates best friend once met a portugese guy...

Posted by pat_stelly on Jun-12-2008 01:42:

Podolski's a bitch!!

Posted by malek on Jun-12-2008 02:03:

you guys are absolutely sour for loosing and retarded, get over being stomped by the germans. Hopefully Austria kicks the shit out of Poland tomorow just because of the lame fans you guys are.

/out

I'm talking about the fact that Canada is chock full of many generations of Polish people. I can guarantee you that in a few years, a good portion of our international team will have ex-Polish nationals in it.
Are you going to go on a rampage about that then?

I wouldn't start crying if a Belgian national beat my team while he was playing for France or Holland. If that's where he has more opportunities, then all the best to him.

Either way, I doubt you'll understand the point I'm trying to make so I'll just leave it at that, and laugh while you rant on the bitterbus.

Brett Hull played for USA instead of Canada in Hockey...that didn't piss me off...so I don't know why this would.

No one called on you to comment here Malek
But you can go right on ahead and post your overly triumphant nonsense that strays from the actual thread content and makes you look like a hero... I'm certainly used to it.

Anyone can post some pictures of the tricolour german flag and spam a thread with "GOALGOALGOAL!!!"
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you actually know something about Germany's football history and admire the team for your own personal reasons. The influx of national pride in Germany since the 2006 WM is definitely something to be admired and they happen to be my second favourite team in this tourney.

PS. You seem to get touchy whenever the topic of nationalism is brought up... maybe you care about it more than you think you do? Just a thought. Your reply is neither necessary nor is it welcome.
