absolutely bullshit calls. you see that kind of stuff all the time during free kicks, light pulling, this was just ridiculous.

the referee told the polish defense man that he should stop with pulling, because of that the kick was replayed! he did it again so it was a penalty!

maybe it was a bit harsh but not as stupid as the first goal, which was offside by 2 meters!

First Don Leo got lucky, then he got f00ked. I feel kinda bad for Polska tho

Electrifying atmosphere. The Germany game will be an all out war, obviously with a 2% chance of an Austrian victory...but who knows

I see Polska's got the girls.

rawr!

Vastic my Croatian brother doing his thing in the dying seconds

Austria could well take out Germany. At home and they can go through, oh man. Should be very interesting!

Poland has no right to cry about this.

1. The austrian player is being grabbed in the area. A bit harsh to call it a penalty kick, but much more acceptable than say, being given a penalty against, for a dive.

2. Poland's goal is completely offside.

3. Poland did everything they could to lose this game. They were completely dominated by this shitty austrian team in the first 30 minutes, and were horrible at controlling the game in the final part of the game.

I'm sorry, but Poland was very disappointing in this Euro Cup and deserves to go out. Weird how this team is always much better in the qualifying rounds than in the finals.

How the hell did Poland manage to leave Portugal behind in the gualifying group? Their defence is appalling.

thats what my brother and i were discussing. we always do well in qualification rounds, then, during the final WC/E games, we tank. saying we did everything to lose this game is a bit ridiculous though.

i just hope the corrupt polish football presidents/ceo's don't throw leo bennhakker out, he truly has been a great coach and we tend to do that every time we don't get out of finals. truth is, we should have scored a lot more goals in the second half, that double save, there should have been better communication but there wasn't.

we should have secured a better score, 1-0 is always risky. though, i don't agree that was a penalty worth call but it happened, that's it. same with our goal, sure it was off-sides but i can say the same thing about numerous other E08 matches which have had several offside goals, including the first goal that we tanked against Germany on sunday. we've been plagued with bad luck this Euro, several of our best key players, like kuba and zurawski getting injured.

what can ya do? now we just gotta play our asses off starting sept 08 and secure a good position in the WC qualifiers.

This Portugal team you are watching in the Euro isn't really the same as in the qualy rounds... we are playing much more as a team now, in qualifying it was more like each player on his own, plus we didn't have Pepe until the end, and that guy makes an huge difference. We were so bad we failed to win a single game against the 3 other best teams in the group (Poland, Serbia and Finland). This is why I was so pessimistic before the championship.

As for our games in particular against Poland, they won fair and square at home - our defence had an atrocious game and they split it open with some quick counter-attacking play, while having massive support from the stands. At Portugal they were lucky to come out with a draw as we played much better, but in the last couple minutes they scored a very long range shot that bounced off from the post, into the back of the keeper, into the goal.

Don't know what happened in the other Poland games as I didn't watch them, but they must've shown something to leave Serbia, Finland and Belgium behind.

The part in bold -> I obviously was saying it in figure speech. Thing is, a proper mature team would never allow themselves to have the austrian attack get 2 clean one-on-one situations in the first half (plus another couple chances), and would never allow the austrian attack to charge like they did at the end of the match. Poland shown they don't have the ability to control the game, not even from a defensive stand point, and to go anywhere in a competition like this you need to have this ability, you can't just rely on luck. Greece had a lot of luck to win it in '04 but shown tons of this ability.

And it is partly Beenhakker's fault, what on earth was he thinking to play offside trap against the germans? That was a massive fail. It all went wrong from there.

Your lucky you've got one of the best keepers in the world to keep you hanging around.
