I also think that many of the troubles Toronto has with getting these big venues has to do with the crack down in the past couple of years on the rave scene period!

I hope Montreal does not suffer the same fate. On another note, Montreal very much seems to have a more European feel and attitude to it, ie everything goes.. This is why their party scene/rave scene is far superior to that of Toronto's.. People that I know who went up to Montreal all told me that it was the shit, and I believe them. I will be chekin Montreal out for the first time this summer for sure, no doubts..

If people in Toronto want to change how the scene works over here I suggest we have a rally at city hall, because the politicians are the ones ruining it for us.. We had some kicking venues in the past, CNE buildings etc. but with the new bylaw it requires that for every certain amount of people that you have an officer. Officers cost around $50/hour and i think they require that for raves they have one for every 30 people. So do the math and you will see how much just police would cost for a 5000 person party. The major has done this to fuck the scene over here in TO.

Its very sad, but i guess for now we will have to all trek up to Montreal to enjoy their great parties; BTW KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MONTREALers, you guys ddefinitely know how to party!!!

Why a Sunday!?
I hope you're right and I hope if he is coming back that its not the Guv/Kool Haus again

I honestly doubt that he's coming. I mean for anyone to put up big bucks for this guy they want to properly promote this thing. 2 weeks is not enough time...

OH well...

honestly though.... why would he do a canadian tour and not come to toronto... that wouldnt make sense at all

Posted by Crazy Serb on May-23-2002 21:51:

Maybe because Toronto doesn't have Grand Prix... maybe he prefers crowd in Montreal too?

even if tiesto is a big f1 fan that shouldnt affect his tour cause the race is on sunday, so nothing should get in the the way of him spinning on friday, sunday, or monday night...besides...its his canadian TOUR...not his canadian vacation...he's definately comming to Toronto, how could he not...he makes to much money off his spinning not to...i'm sure they are just trying to finalize a venue...everyone relax!!!

For Tiesto?? He can pull off no promoting at all and will get a good turnout just for word of mouth advertising alone..

I hope I'm right

oh im pretty damn sure you are

Posted by malek on May-24-2002 01:23:

I doubt it people, he's a big F1 fan so I don't think he'll miss the race... and everything that goes with it...

He finishes spinning at about 7-8 am on sunday morning, get some hours of sleep, or not, catches the pre-race and race. this ends at 3pm...

I don't think he'll rush a 4-5 hours drive and then spin for a couple of grand... thats my opinion.

Plus if he was going to TO their would be an announcment. We knew he was coming to montreal about 2-3 months ago... so this thing is planned a while ago.

To resume everything: you're all welcome to Montreal

hey bud, toronto is an 80 min. flight away from MTL, that costs $200, i'm sure tiesto can afford it. he makes a lot more than a couple grand per show by the way. besides who wants to watch f1 practice/qualifying or go to france (err, MO---rrrrreeaalll) at all for that matter, pierre!

Yes sweetie, you are correct... even Montreal doesn't have any official info on that event on 8th of June, except a few rumours here and there and a few posts on some message boards.

So if someone in Toronto was to book Tiesto 3-4 days before the event, they wouldn't have any problems promoting this event... a few ads on radio, papers, etc, and bam! Party's on!

And yeah, you'll see my ass in Montreal either way...

Posted by itikia on May-24-2002 04:55:

Have you guys ever considered that he might be taking the day off?

Also don't you think he has a contract signed with Moby? One in which he remains exclusive for the Area 2 party here in Toronto?

I mean if i was Moby and i was paying a large sum of money for him, one of the clauses that would be in the contract would be that he would not be allowed to play in Toronto until a given length of time AFTER the Area 2 party. No promoter would have it any other way, if they did then they are just dumb!

Posted by delstar on May-24-2002 05:08:

im not too sure

but i think i saw 180 posters at swirl for tiesto confirmed in the AMC forum on June 8th

just a thought

and why would he want to be here in ol' monrrreal....i guess there must be a reason why he will be here from thursday to sunday?!? go figure

you must be a retard, I just said he's a big fan of F1... fans of F1 go on friday for the practices, check every damn thing for the whole day, see the qualifiying, etc etc PLUS the race. They don't sell 3 day passes for 300$+ for nothing. And he's not here only to DJ... cause he would come into town on saturday and leave right away. He's staying here at least thursday till sunday.

And this has nothing to do with trance nor tiesto but you're just a f* retard with your lack of respect for us montrealers and for french people in general (i'm not french btw). I guess its because of idiots like you that we have such trouble in this great country. But maybe you're not a retard but just plain jealous because of our great nightlife and scene. Either way, you're still welcome to come and enjoy our parties.

?!?!?! dude, we knew Tiesto was coming 2-3 months ago and it was supposed to be at Sona. But people kept complaining for a better and bigger venue, so thats why 514 productions were in limbo between a couple of other venues. But that didn't change the fact that he was still coming. The venue was confirmed monday I think which is a full 3 weeks before the event... more than enough in my opinion. It will be a new venue used for the first time which can hold 4000 of us. The tickets will be on sale this saturday. We're all set

Hehee, chill bro... it's just that none of us down here knew about this event (well, most of us didn't)... I just found out about this event being at Sona a month ago.

And yeah, if the God himself feels like chilling for a weekend in Montreal, enjoying the races, and dropping a few sets without worrying about travel/money/deadlines/other b.s., then let it be... after all, he is the God and he has the right to enjoy his life anyway he wants to (of course, after all that chilling he better come by my place and throw a 5 hour set or I am seriously gonna bust his kneecaps!).
