seems federer has serena's illness. can't seem to break nadal.

Posted by verndogs on Jul-06-2008 16:10:

as much as I respect Federer, it would be nice for Nadal to finally win Wimbeldon

Nadal seemed to turn his game up an extra notch whenever he had a break point against him.

We'll see whether the rain delay has any effect.

This delay has been killing me. I'm just waiting for Nadal to finish off 'No-Break' Federer.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jul-06-2008 18:15:

what a match.

Posted by PatMcGroin on Jul-06-2008 18:33:

WOOOOOOW!!!

this match has been damn good!!!

Posted by Unique2701 on Jul-06-2008 18:36:

wow this truly is a fight of the titans.
.. and we're right back where we started, 2-2 in sets.

Posted by Intuition on Jul-06-2008 18:43:

I can't believe Rafa still hasn't been able to put Federer away yet. Anybody's match now...

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jul-06-2008 18:43:

what a match.

Posted by verndogs on Jul-06-2008 18:46:

i haven't seen a match this epic since sampras-agassi in 2001

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jul-06-2008 18:49:

i'm just speechless right now.
all i know is Gilette is dancing in their shoes right now, because they can now use Tiger's epic victory in the US Open + Roger's future victory here for their new upcoming commercial! I hear Gilette's marketing don't know what to use for Thierry Henry, so they figure to use him as a backdrop for Woods and Federer.

Posted by PatMcGroin on Jul-06-2008 18:56:

fuuuuuuuuuuuuck... so are we really not going to have a winner until tomorrow?

thats

Posted by Jasperovitsj on Jul-06-2008 19:10:

Damn, what an EPIC match. Some of the best tennis I've seen this season, especially since Federer stepped up to his best level after that rain delay. That second tiebreak was nervewrecking, the way they kept on using those risky passing shots during the most crucial points. The nerve, the skill, amazing.

It could go either way now, but I think Federer has the moral advantage after those succesful tiebreaks. GO ROGER!!

Nike will be having a blast as well with Woods and Federer

Federer vs Woods Nike ad

Woohooooooooooooooooooooooo!

It was about time for Rafa to take him down on grass.

Finally, it's over. I should stop cheering for Fed cause it was not fun to watch. I basically knew Nadal was going to win, but boy that Fed. Everything when I thought he was done, he'd comeback.

Fed seriously needs to up his game. Fed beat him self with all the errors he makes :S

Posted by Jasperovitsj on Jul-06-2008 20:22:

Roger

Ah well, he'll strike back next year! Unless het gets Rafaphobia of course

Posted by verndogs on Jul-06-2008 20:24:

best match I've ever seen

rafa earned that one.

After every game, they put on a commercial break with the Gillette campaign here, with Roger saying "Yesterday is history, just a nice memory. The only day that matters is today." I kept yelling to the tv, "today you're gonna lose!"

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jul-06-2008 20:43:

Rafa definately earned this one. we all knew the only way to take down Federer in a big time match is to go the extra long distance. We all saw it in the 2005 Austrailian Open semis when Safin remarkably took down Federer after a long epic 5 sets just like this one. This Wimbledon final is the same as that match. Congrats to Rafa.

for us here in the US, the only commercials they were showing were investments and retirements advertisements.

+1.

In terms of productivity, this game screwed me today, but regardless, an absolute epic that I could not pull myself away from (I couldn't wait for Rafa to put him away after he pulled ahead on the first two sets). But hell, did he ever take his time. Federer was earning the title 'The Comeback Kid' with increasing consistency closer to the end of the match, but once Rafa broke him, it was just too steep a hill for him to climb. Still, very gracious in defeat, and yes, he will back next year.

I sit in shock when I think that Nadal and I are the same age...

Posted by trunks1022 on Jul-06-2008 21:41:

this match was MUCH crazier than last year's final! and i thought last year's had it all in terms of drama. these two outdid themselves this year.

Posted by Txebe on Jul-07-2008 15:14:

Congratulations Rafa!!!

I'm proud to be fan of him (probably because he's Spanish) hahaha

Posted by denys envy on Jul-07-2008 16:13:

Spain strikes again.
