Sample here.

The atmosphere is simply brilliant, indescribable.
Very original sounding and pleasant to the ear.
Top stuff.

If you don't like that, go to www.dubstep.nu

And if you don't like the track, sure, go ahead and reply, but at least make sure your reply is constructive, not just plain dumb.

I'm terribly sorry our tastes in music don't match.

No, it's not about that, you're reply was simply dumb. Go ahead and read it again, you'll see. Maybe.

You seem to have some trouble with reading comprehension. Let me rephrase it for you:
1) I think IDM is a pretty stupid and pretentious name for a genre.
2) I don't like this track.
3) I can't imagine a track like this being played at a party or festival.

Nice try at trolling, though.

I really do hate the name IDM, but I do like the music associated with it for the most part. And for the record, no, this track isn't suited for a party. Maybe a lounge, but that's about it. Not all dubstep is like this track though.

I'd appreciate some hints at more danceable / partyable stuff.

Everyone is already aware of this, and I haven't seen anyone in this thread trying to be pretentious about the music.

I didn't like the sample, however.

you can't listen to this track without a stick of incense burning oh and you're also gonna want those long strands of beads hanging from your doorways so its kinda like an opium den

lol, blech, I'm not too well-versed in dubstep to really want to speak to it. Digital Mytikz and Skream make some. But I know I'd be lambasted by the hardcore dubstep people to actually suggest them so I'll let those who are into it provide examples

I only like a select amount of dubstep and most of it isn't the hootinanny ho-down dubstep.

Dubstep and Ket go together well.

It kind of is, call it braindance if it bothers you so much.

Okay.

Who ever mentioned that's what it's intended for?

Great ammount of irony right there.

me too. but this thread is about one particular track that apparently deserves a whole thread devoted to it for discussion on how great it is. there is another thread further down titled "dubstep anyone?", (maybe page 2?) that has 3 suggestions from me that i have tested and verified myself they indeed make people dance. the people i had over at my house came up and were very intrigued and wanted to know the artist, where i found it, etc.

i kind of dont want to talk about dubstep on this forum though, i fear the same fate that happened to minimal house/techno will happen to dubstep: a flood of newcomers that will saturate the genre with crap. but theres really nothing you can do, people are going to discover a genre no matter what in this internet age, and especially faster because of the internet. underground music doesnt exist anymore and never will again! because as soon as a scene evolves it gets exploited via youtube and within weeks its on radio1 !! its mankind's constant hunger for new sounds. in fact i think its already too late for dubstep, its already been cheesified, loads of cheesy girly UK garage-esque style vocals and bubble gum pop sound type dubstep tunes all over the place now.

Are you sure that those tunes aren't just Garage in itself and your classification of Dubstep is wrong?

Posted by Gauss on Jun-30-2008 21:34:

This is the type of dubstep I like more:

Btw, my favorite dubstep artists are Skream, Benga and Burial.

I don't know what tracks he's talking about, but there's quite a bit of 2step styled tunes flying about right now. See: http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/s...ack=SUBWAY005EP (Vinyl 1, track 01 and Vinyl 2, track 02)

I love 2step, and I wish more people were doing that and not shit, generic jump-up wobble.

I've heard barely any 2-step in my life and I like it so far.
Don't know why haven't I given it more attention.

Ah got ya,

Still don't see where the original poster is coming from, surely its not immoral for a genre to sometimes go back to its roots.

See if you can track down a copy of MJ Cole's Essential Mix from the year 2000... some good stuff. Back in the day, MJ Cole was the shit in the world of UK Garage.
