Wow... starcraft 2 and diablo 3 are really pushing the envolope of really bad art direction. Starcraft 2 is really cartoony, and diablo 3 just isn't dark enough (pretty cartoony too). I think all hope is lost for starcraft 2... but hopefully they can save diablo 3 or maybe someone will make some great graphics mods for both.
Diablo 2 is on my list of things to play someday... I just can't seem to get into it as much as diablo 1. I think I'll buy LOD first and then give it a good going through.

Interesting tidbits from the Joystiq Interview:
It's about 20 years after Lord of Destruction. Essentially since then, if you're familiar with the lore, Tyreal destroyed the worldstone and the general consensus was that this was going to be the big Hell invasion because the worldstone's keeping everything back. And essentially that invasion never happened and one of the many questions is ... why? And we aren't going to answer that today, but that's what the story addresses. What's happened to Tyreal since then? What's happened to Deckard Cain?
We bring back a lot of characters, not just from Diablo 2 but Diablo 1 as well. We're also bringing back some characters in kind of unconventional ways. For example, the barbarian we showed today is actually meant to be the same barbarian from Diablo 2. So we're planning on doing a lot of cool stuff to make a richer storyline.
I like what i'm seeing
Well i guess i will have to play it, if for no toher reason than to get so frustrated by some minor fault that i will have a valid reason for hating it.
Slo-mo'd it through the gameplay video to bring you all the information regarding items, enemies, skills and whanot I could find.

isn't that a little bit too much information yan?
especially since most of those items aren't even going to be in the final release.
I don't have an official source for this, but I heard that there is currently a rogue class in this build. We can also assume there will be a mage of sorts (they wouldn't make diablo without one), which only leaves one more class to reveal.

I loved both Diablo I and II, although I stuck with D2 a lot longer, especially after the LOD expansion.
And the game is a hack n slash on the surface, but after playing D2 LOD for too long I found many many new things to try out.
But I am totally gonna ruin my job when this is finally released. I am thinking end of next year it should be out. We should all team up when it does come out.

I'm a bit confused about this:
Q: With the loot system in Diablo II, the player with the fastest connection often got the loot. Will this change?
A: We're changing the drop system. Monsters will drop multiple items, each player will see loot generated for them.
Does that mean that others can't grab what's dropped on your screen? That's fucking weak sauce.

its this kind of shit why i dont play many online games.
Blizzard you thiefs! ( GW has done this drop system many years ago
)
Wait, wait, wait, I could have sworn that D2 had that drop system when I played. I think I played it a bunch in version 1.09-1.11 or so...
Looks good, I'll be in on this.
I have to say I'm somewhat relieved to see the general community already criticizing the asthetics of D3. The uproar wasn't even this significant with SC2 and it got the devs to fix the graphics, so there's still hope for this. I dream of the day when blizzard finally get it through their thick skulls that no one likes blocky models, bright cartoony textures, rainbows and rabbits. FFS they even have that stupid Warcraft 3 hero glow on the axe.

i haven't been excited about a video game in a long time, but man, this game looks fucking sick. i've only played the original diablo too (single player only), so i feel like i've missed out with D2 + the expansion packs. it's relieving to see that the gameplay/ 3/4 perspective remains the same, i had a feeling when clicking the thread that they were going to completely try to change it up..
gameplay looks fucking spectacular.
I know im late on here.. but i just wanna say this game looks amazing.
I never got into Diablo 2, but Diablo 3 looks awesome.
Loved em all this one looks awesome cant wait to play it. time for a new computer also
