As far as all the complaints of too many people... Well it IS a massive. What'd you expect?!

And the puddles... Well it IS an all ages massive! What'd you expect?!

Sorry I just think it's funny that everyone has the exact same complaints about every massive that gets posted on here. And I'm not saying I don't agree. In fact, those are all the reasons I don't go to massives any more.

But if you enjoyed yourself, right on!

Oh and also, for future reference, if you don't wanna wait a couple hours in line, find someone near the front who's really fucked up, start a conversation, and then ta-da! you're at the front of the line too!

d ramirez was sick. i was on stage with him the whole time. opened up with system it got me really going.
armand van helden was chill as well. except for the fact that he got my girls number haha, owned.
benny was ummmm benny not impressive in my eyes.
free waters and alcohol and monsters all night not to mention not waiting in ridiculous lines.
cosmic meadows was definitely the place to be.

ya he played let go...

edc was chill cept way to many ppl this time.

pvd banged it out harder than ive ever seen him do so. he threw out smack by simon patterson which was epic.

but my favorite act of the night was definently d. ramirez who banged it out with some siiiick techno. it was pure amazingness.

Agree 100%! My ideal set order would have been:

Bamaca
Benassi
Moby
CL
Eddie Halliwell
Menno de Jong
PVD

I left home a little after 5, 10FWY and Hoover south were jammed, 30 mins waiting to park once inside, and horrendous line (4 of the staff couldn't tell me where groovetickets will-call was, the 4th one finally knew something, couldn't they have just added the will-call location to that big email about bringing the right credit card?), didn't get in until 7:45 but thankfully Menno's set went late, so ran to the front and caught the last 15 minutes!

Menno def deserves his own headliner set at a decent club here in LA. So many people came to see him but were stuck outside in a sea of endless people going nowhere.

I do think that the event organizers can do better. When I went to Trance Energy, a party with 30,000 people, my friends and I were parked within 10 minutes, and there were no lines at the MULTIPLE entrances, you just walked right in!

With an event this size, there should be entrances on all sides of the coliseum, four or more of them would help. Since people are parking all around the coliseum, wouldn't have to walk as far and would get them in faster so they could hear the music they came for and start getting drinks earlier (so more $$$ for promoter!)

The bar situation was much better this year though, never waited more than 5 mins for a drink. Didn't seem like there were that many more bars this year, so maybe people were just drinking less due to the miserable state of the economy?

Eddie's set must have been really short, left just a few minutes after he started to use the restroom and get a burrito, and CL was already on when I got back! Trying to dance to PVD's music was utter insanity, all I could concentrate on was standing up and not being hit in the face by random elbows, then some girl would say that she couldn't see and would sit on her guy's shoulders right in front of you. F'd up crowd wouldn't even let you move back, most were too cracked out to even realize that anyone else was there!

Great turnout though, must have been 2x last year, so EDM still rocks! Overall, it was a night filled with great music and a lot of happy people, just some nasty bumps along the way...

I had a great time...line took a little while, not too bad though. Glitch Mob was really cool, first time I had heard them.

I saw..

the very end of Eddie Halliwell's set
Christopher Lawrence
BT
Rabbit in the Moon (unbeliebable)
Moby
PvD
Dieselboy
DJ Hype

I liked all of them.

The only part I could have done without..

The people that LAY ON THE GROUND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN MAINSTAGE AREA..come on..that's what the bleachers are for.

I understand you wanna do drugs and trip out, but fuck, people are actually trying to enjoy the music. It got kinda old trying to step over a couple thousand people laying on the ground.

I had a great time overall, definitely worth the $60.00

i wasn't there, but from reading all the reviews, is it just me or is there more and more kids coming to these events? i went to etd pop in may and trying to walk through the crowd was insane. it just totally kills it for me. i remember going to monster massive 04, and the crowd was great, plenty of room to dance and move around, and not that many kids. with it's ever growing popularity, pretty soon, there's not going to be anymore massives. sucks not to be 21 then. :P

i don't know, maybe i'm just getting old. good thing i can always catch these djs at the clubs. even then, it's getting ridiculous with the major djs.

Posted by costizzle on Jun-29-2008 22:56:

for the record, insomniac can suck a nut with their diarrhea for organization.

Posted by TSG on Jun-29-2008 23:00:

Yeah! ^ Waited in line for like 1.5 to 2 hrs! Missed Menno & Eddie!

I think so. Most of them looked 15 or 16 and the majority were wasted! I know that they're not there for the music or DJs, mostly there to be in a fantasy world, get all fvcked up and who knows what else. *shakes head*

I did the same thing.

Yeah. I hate line cutters, but I have to blame Insomniac for creating the situation that made cutting so attractive and easy. After 3 hours of watching people walk by me to the front, it was everyone for himself. I tried to be the good citizen, but that only got me screwed.

Step over? I stepped ON them.
I lost my friends when we went to get on the floor for PvD. I started at the staircase in the middle of the arena, and somehow found my way to the front. Talked with some not-cracked out people, I think some found it strange that I could enjoy myself, by myself. Do people not realize that some people can like music alone.
I called it my Journey to the Center of the Rave.

Back to transcribing that CL interview.

Im sorry to say, but cutting was the only way to get in, in no time. My friends and I arrived at around 7:30, paid $20 for parking, and walked a short distance to the arena. Once in the premises, we saw how unfuckinbelievably long the line was . By the same token, we also saw ppl walking up past the line. After scanning what the line looked like, we decided to make use of our age, and walk as far up as possible. Figuring the damn teens wouldnt give us any shit if we got infront of them. As we thought, we were right, and got in in about 30 mins.

This was my first all ages massive. And being a TA, I already new what to expect. So I really coulndt complain about the puddles, or the cracked out kids, and the light shows, etc... I think because of this, I had a good time.

CL's set was bangin as usual, Benassi was pretty weak, the only song that captured my attention was his opener, Bring the noise. Moby I was pretty impressed by, despite the fact he was jumping genres. And PVD OWNED in my opinion! Specially when he drifted into electro.

At 3:30 we decided it was a good time to leave. As we anticipated chaos after 4am.

What did piss me off though, was when "trying" to walk out of the field, there were single ppl sitting on the floor by themselves Needless to say, but I steped on several ppl and damn near triped a few times. I guess thats what they get.

Sucks I didn't see any TA's though.....

I saw epic007 , so I said hi. I was front and center for CL, it was awesome. Best set of the night for me. And still, lol@Bennassi for dropping trance classics.

Posted by henryv on Jun-29-2008 23:37:

Had a great time!

Posted by ReclusNdangrmnt on Jun-29-2008 23:41:

Oh, and another highlight of the day, for me, was going to Amoeba for the first time

Scored Orbit's Adagio for Strings, and a promo of CL- Trilogy(Or at least the disc says so), as well as a promo of iiO-Rapture. That place is awesome.

Posted by david.sound on Jun-29-2008 23:45:

I'm an idiot for going. I always promise myself never to go to an Insomniac event, but then my friend tells me it will be fun, so I finally go, and it's a let down.

That was my last rave. I'm just over it. Not into the drugs and dirty crap anymore. Very disorganized event.

And to the African American guy who bitched me out for "pushing" you, fuck you man. You're a piece of shit.

Bunny was fun though.

Everyone either had a bandanna wrapped around their face, had vagina eating shorts, or had those grill sunglasses.

Ya. I agree with you. I used to get pissed too waiting in line for 30 minutes and watching someone walk right up to the front, but the Insomniac events for the past year have just been ridiculous. I still ended up waiting to get in for 30 minutes when I cut. If I didn't do that then I would have been in line for at least two hours and when an event is that unorganized then it really makes me just not give a fuck. I'm not going to spend $55 for a ticket to wait in line for 2 or 3 hours. Sorry!! I think Insomniac really needs to learn from there past few events. Maybe double or triple up on the staff and have at least two entrance for GA. Three might even be a better idea. I mean I know it's probably easier said than done but last night was annoying.

Posted by ReclusNdangrmnt on Jun-30-2008 00:22:

With the amount of money they were pulling in they could easily hire more staff/have more entrances.

Posted by R!CH on Jun-30-2008 00:25:

when will people learn? raves are for kids who don't know any better, and the people trying to make money off them.

Thats another reason why i line cut. I will be honest, i line cut at every massive i go to. Yeah i am an asshole for doing that, but i am an asshole thats inside partying before you

Holy fucking shit.

I remember you guys, i took pics of you guys with Armin. You guys took the pic of me and Armin, I NEED THAT PIC!!!

I remember vividly in my drunken state your girlfriend said to me "why do you want a pic you will never get it " or something to that extent. She didnt think i was going to run into you guys again LOL. I do recall Armin getting your girl's digits, he said he was going to leave at 330 or some thing to that extent.

So ya if u can send me that pic, that would be on point!

I was at the cosmicMeadow stage like you guys all night. The line up was DOPE!

Posted by Mecca82 on Jun-30-2008 00:50:

great times i had spent with my very good friends in LA!

bad side:
the lines to get in!

dj reviews:
menno de jong was great, wat a champ his plane was delayed therefore he only played 30 minutes but man... he should be near the end of the night

eddie halliwell: best skilled dj ive ever seen... amazing... couldnt get enough of his scratching!!! i think he's the only one in the night that got the dancefloor attention

CL: he's my favorite #1 dj for along time.. but that wasnt his best set.. i think the set was all over the place, started off with good psy trance tracks that didnt really go well with one another, then off to some cheesebombs that people actually like... but... i dunno he didnt really get my attention this time

Benny: sucks...

Moby: sucks...

PVD: sucks, getting worste and worsed through out the years, wtf hapen to the "PVD German Bass" i dont really get what he's doing nowadays, i mean... no one was paying attention really! the music sounded so dull!

overall music wise gettting wrose and worese throughtout the night!!!

josh allen nice seeing u again if only for a minute!

I was sitting in the bleachers at the beginning of PvD's set, then decided to go down to the floor..big mistake. You can't even enjoy it because of everyone pushing through to either get to the front, or moving back towards the exits..

That aside, I had so much fun..I love that you can just chill on the bleachers, kick back and watch the show instead of having to stand for hours on end.

I was in a black VONYC shirt..wish I knew what all of you looked like so I could have said hi.
