They sound nothing alike

This is a bit much... how could this happen?

because the guitar sound is a preset on i think either an alesis or a korg digital synth- my friend has the keyboard at his house and we were going through it and then oh shit, trentemoller sound hahaha

Posted by MoBreakz on Jul-06-2008 04:59:

hmmm...
The track is labled virtually the same as the Trentemoller remix of the Djuma Soundsystem track. "Les Djinns". So I dont think they are trying to hide plagairism, maybe its a remix of sorts mislabled as original mix...perhaps a mistake on beatports part?

And this isnt quite plagiarism...its Sampling (what Timbaland does). And we dont know the business side of whether the sample is cleared or not.

We're arguing creativity not legality.

Why not sample the track, change it to make it your own then name it something else? Why not label it as Djumma Soundsystem - Les Djinn (Some remix)? What's the point of taking the track verbatim (is that the word? verbeatim maybe ) and label it something like Le DJ Inns?

Even though the track is not a good example, flipping a sample smartly or in an intersting way is a creative as anything in making music. I guess the status quo in EDM is if a producer uses a sample, he is less creative? I can see he abused the sample, and his track is shit, but if it was used it in a smart way and his track was actually good, I wouldnt have a problem with the creativity side. But thats not what the thread is discussing, its mostly discussing plagiarism, which this track is not plagiarism, because we dont know enough about the track. Its a poor remix and poor sample usage, and the mislabling is throwing people off.

Who gave MoBreakz his old user name back?

Posted by MoBreakz on Jul-06-2008 06:48:

well my lionslair handle is still on hiatus, so i have to log in to my older handle to share ideas with fellow EDM listeners.
im guessing that gets your panties in a twist?

"hiatus" is that what the kids are calling banned these days?

Posted by Pokit on Jul-06-2008 07:14:

The title is spaced differently, and the kick is different. No way that's plagiarism!!!11

It was a 4 week ban...according to the PM I was sent by the mod that explained the ban.

That was probably just a nice way of telling you to fuck off and hoping you'd stay gone for good.

Either way, I'm confident you'll manage to get this account suspended too and then we'll all get the pleasure of watching you register yet another user name, get that banned as well, and so forth and so on until you tire of it and move on.

Vicious, predictable cycle, etc.

The most amazing part is that its the same exact crap all over again. Arguing obscure counter-points that don't really have anything to do with anything other than the fact that they go against the prevailing wisdom.

Like, why would anyone in their right mind attempt to defend these tracks in any way?

Posted by MoBreakz on Jul-06-2008 07:53:

Why would I return if this handle was banned? I dont see the gold you see. If you have been here for a while like I have, you would know that most of the quality people have left or dont post as much anymore because of douchebags like you RJT. Spending my free time on productive things would not be too bad, getting banned from a forum that is has quite a bit of flamewars and trolling isnt the end of the world, and is laughable at best. There are other music discussion boards that I use like GU and others, without the clutter of the mentally and socially disturbed. I use this one because of its local relevance. And If I couldnt post here anymore, I guess Id be joining the countless people who have moved on because a few bottom feeders have turned TA into a shitstorm.

In other words, My life doesnt revolve around TA like yours does RJT. Dont your parents or roomates ever tell you "get off the computer FFS." Its pretty sad that TA is life itself for some people, and I guess backseat modding is a past time when all else has failed. I can see how getting a ban would turn your world upside down though, 12,600 posts and pretty much not going anywhere musically, im guessing TA is all you have, you cant be as careless as me

Ahh, resorting to the clich cards now. Well played.

Just like predicted:

Exactly the same worthless diatribe we've heard from you before. TA is shit and everyone here is a basement dwelling geek with no life outside the internet, and yet, you're the one who's come back after being banned (for posting this same type of crap no less). The irony is astounding.

Given that RJT:

1. Doesn't live with parents or roomates (unless thats what you call your girlfriend and cat )

2. Life does, in fact, not revolve around TA

3. Is more involved in music than you likely ever will be (given the # of times you've had your ass handed to you in even the most basic discussions here)

...what else is left of your post? Internet posturing and the constant assertion that you do, in fact, have better things to do. Who in the hell exactly do you think you're fooling right now?

1. I guess he could use some more parenting then, if he uses as much time as he does here. Im saying that because I certainly would not want my son or daughter wasting his time on something like a message board forum to that extent. Would anyone?

2. The post count contradicts with that. And shit I just noticed you have 16,000 posts....10.9 posts a day under your belt. So I can see why you defend him. They say, you are what your friends are, so I guess that couldnt be more true.

3. How is he more involved in the music? Just because he makes a few mixes here and there? And how do you know exactly how involved I am? You dont.

Well when you have kids I'm glad they'll be well educated in proper message board etiquette.

I didn't know posting 10 posts a day on a message board constitutes having no life outside of the internet. You've already reached 5 posts in this thread alone today, might wanna watch yourself. Aside from the claim being completely ridiculous, I don't feel the need to explain what my actual life is like to you, since I live it myself.

How do you know how involved he is? You don't. Nor do you know pretty much anything about any of the people you've made baseless accusations to on this forum. As far as accusations with some type of substance to them, what exactly have you contributed, musically, to this forum or electronic music in general? I'd love to hear them...

I was about to explain myself a little better, but given that you're actually LionsLair...it's pretty much a waste of time.

What, an "electro mix" of Greece 2000? Electro has become such a dirty word nowadays...
