why would you care?

Posted by UWM on Jul-12-2008 00:29:

Because it's my job to moderate discussions on this forum and prevent them from turning into accusatory hearsay hate-fests.

I really need to quit this whole 'starting a sentence with a preposition' thing.

no hate here just honest truth
i didnt say i hate someone...

Well, no, but throwing around words like 'dickhead' and 'i dont give a shit what you think' in an otherwise (shockingly) civil and constructive conversation will only serve to derail and ruin it.

and throwing around word like "delusional" will have totally different effect?

maybe you should edit his post first..

Posted by peteone on Jul-12-2008 00:37:

seriously - bobby - just enjoy the ride

Posted by UWM on Jul-12-2008 00:37:

Nobody's running around editing any posts. Stop getting so defensive. I'm simply trying to keep this conversation on track. I've been interested in reading a lot of the posts from people who are instrumental cogs in what this scene has become and I'd like to keep it civil. That's all.

And in the spirit of keeping the thread on track that's all I've got to say on the matter.

how am i whining? i dont give a shit what you think, i don't have to prove anything to anyone.
Interesting thing is that i have received numerous emails about..how rght i am about this whole "chicago scene crap"..maybe you should call these people delusional as well..

funny thing is that i really respect you for what you did here in chicago with your label and really cool parties etc. plus coming from the background where you can mention ibiza in it is an extra plus for you..altho you were always a dickhead to me...i guess at least now now i deserve it? no?

think what's bs? that i'm not doing trades with him?
people like me, they book me, i worked hard in chicago to build relationships with tons of venues and believe it or not i've got some pretty big things going on now.

here's a few of the many times i played at spybar last year

dino is in fact one of my best friends and someone i worked closely with for a long time, and i think you are completely out of order for calling into question either of our intentions. nobody who ever got anywhere in music had it handed to them. anyone who's complaining about the chicago scene and lack of gigs isn't working hard enough.

grow up.

Posted by peteone on Jul-12-2008 00:55:

ohh trust me i worked hard enough and got fucked way to many times,
yeah i complain about chicago scene..bout gigs ? no i don't.. i really don't care anymore..

but hey question for you?
if chicago is so great and the scene is so fantastic why did you move to L.A if you are so passionate about music and had so many friends you could bring to your gigs etc etc.

Posted by peteone on Jul-12-2008 01:02:

hold on let me answer this one - um yeah chicago scene sucks - dino is the only one who keeps it alive right now bringing great artists...how many millions in this city? only one club who can bring loco dice?

this threat has a wrong title btw

because i'm starting a sub label of crosstown rebels (and working on an album for the sub label) and doing events with a group of like minded people who wanted me to come out here to move forward. we have a great studio and afterparty house which really helps any local scene and gives visiting djs a better experience.

some of our upcoming events we are booking/promoting
july 14 dj three @ mns
july 25 mathew jonson @ cinespace
aug 8th simon baker and jamie jones
aug 10th jamie jones @ standard rooftop
aug 30th dan berkson + james what
sept 5 dominik eulberg @ the room

not to mention playing on the main stage w artists like sander kleinenberg, sebastien leger, and booka shade in the next few weeks at avalon where droog are residents, and i play frequently.

some of our recent events we promoted
martin landsky
phonique
konrad black, guido schneider and seth troxler
jamie jones, clive henry, seth troxler
troy pierce
dan ghenacia, marc antona, shonky, jamie jones in miami

the ability to work on events of this caliber, and to work with a label like crosstown rebels was too much to pass up.

i love chicago, and think it's an awesome city that was extremely difficult to leave.

Lee you are just proving my point with this..
L.A has lot more to offer.
let me ask you one more question?
Does L.A have any radio station that plays non commercial edm?

Congrats on work with the crosstown rebels great stuff..
Damian Lazarus is still one of my fav djs (which by the way when he was in Chicago at Soundbar maybe 40 people show up - the stuff he played was so fucking good another addon to the list how great scene in Chicago is.)

Amen.

This is really, really getting out of hand. Put the shovel away, Pete. We get it, you're disgruntled about bookings in Chicago - but making the scene you have here for little to no good reason, as well as personally attacking a kid who's basically known for having been one of the hardest working locals Chicago has ever known, isn't going to magically make things all better for you.

At the end of the day, Foss is where he is now (and was where he was in Chicago) because he sounds like Lee Foss, not like any number of the literally dozens of locals who all the play the bog-standard techno and tech-house that permeates 90% of every tracklist you see right now.

When you've worked for years to hone a sound people will recognize instantly as "Peteone" as well as manage to have those folks fill the clubs on the nights you're playing, my guess is more gigs will follow. Until then, it doesn't really sound like you have a leg to stand on.

you have no idea..i worked with pretty much every good dj in chicago so
if you say i sound like a dozen tech dj's in this city ..
seriously just shut the fuck up and stay down...do some more research before you say anything.

and one more thing..i'm not attacking anyone, and as for bookings for myself - seriously? i dont give a 2 arbys french dips..
most of the people that know me they know i'm more so afterhours dj then anything else...and i like it that way
