road kill clean up

Posted by NeoPhono on Jul-06-2008 23:24:

Full time night shift nurse's aide while getting my master's. I didn't mind it too much, but there was a lot of poop, pee, vomit, drainage and weird smells involved, although I got pretty used to it. What sucked was working 12 hours and then going straight to lecture and trying to be functional. I've always been a "night owl," but after 3 years of trying to switch back and forth for school and work, my insomnia is epic, years after I stopped working there.

1) K.F.C :- cooked chicken in the back and stuff mainly cooking duties and cleaning if not busy worst 2 years of my life.

2) FedEx Ground:- Lifted boxes and loaded in the truck during early college days hours were good but job sucked 3.5 hours a day which kinda felt like 12 hour shift with the amount of lifting and loading we did.

Graduate Research Assistant.

Actually my worst job was at an insurance agency in highschool. I dont know how those people could come into work every day.... it was so dull. And answering the phones wasnt fun. Believe it or not people dont really enjoy having to call their insurance agent.

OH MY GOD, I FORGOT I WORKED AT TARGET.

I try to push that out of my memory. Yeah I worked there for a semester in college.... when the semester changed and I had a new schedule, they wouldnt change my work schedule. For 5 days in a row I called HR to tell them that I could not work, and eventually I just stopped showing up. Total bullshit!

Sam - Thanks man! Have a good night!

Food Avenue Manager - YOU DIDN'T CLEAN UP!
Sam - Um, yeah I did *confused*
Food Avenue Manager - NO YOU DID NOT! I GOT HERE AND GREASE WAS EVERYWHERE! EVERYWHERE!
Sam - *presents signed off sheet* I don't know what you're talking about...

*get's let go*

My first job when i was 16 was a bagger/kart kid at Dominicks Finer Foods. Paid $4.35 an hour lol. When i was 19 and in school i was a telemarketer at Trader Publishing company. I only did telemarketing for 6 months while in school then quit school to work there full time in a better position. Even though it was a shit job i attribute that job to getting my foot in the door with advertising & marketing.

I worked in the target warehouse, I didn't think it was shitty at all.
Get up at 330am, flex my muscles, put on some Markus Schulz, unload the truck and stock up the store. But the pay was too low.

You worked in the belly of the beast, not the jaws.

Wal-Mart: The worlds largest homeless shelter.

Wal-Mart. Always for the homeless, always.

Oh and I have had a few shitty jobs. 2 of them at warehouses, one at target, one at a movie theater, and one at a fucking costume jewelry company (Cookie Lee) folding paper all fucking day.

Oh shit, you reminded me of another shitty job I had!!! Yai! I was loading junk mail into envelopes before the process became fully automated. Lasted about 2 days, the dullness of the job was a lot more painful than papercuts all over my fingers. I just wanted to bleed into someone's envelope to freak them the fuck out when they got it... but back then I was not yet involved in "Project Mayhem".

I also did dishes at Japanese restaurant. Fucking cheap bastard didn't pay me for all the hours I worked because I forgot to clock in. (Basically stole lousy $10 from me - which was 2 hours of work). So... I stole a bottle of (ghast! me and my fucking knowledge of booze at 18): Baileys Irish Cream. I didn't open the bottle till I got home... and what a fucking let down - looked and tasted like leperchaun cum. Meanwhile, a 1.75L bottle of Grey Goose was left untouched on the shelf. I would have stolen that too but I decided it was not worth it going back to work for another day.

Fucker called me like 1 hour after my shift was supposed to start - it was a busy Friday night. He's like screaming in his broken eengrish: "Wea a yiuuuu? Yiuu need be hea at faiv aklok! Juan (other kid who did dishes) alwedee leev! Yiuu no hea!" - so I reminded him how he didn't pay me the night before for 2 hours I worked. He's like - come back, I'll give you your $10 and a bonus. I told him to make an oregami creature out of the money and shove it up his ass.

I was such a bad-ass garrrrr!

I used to work for a small book distributor (www.lb.ca) and i had a good position, lots of things to do and responsibility, but i got paid $11

then when it came to my big raise that they were hyping up for the whole year, i got... $11.25

plus there was a lot of bullshit to do there with mandatory over time and doing jobs that weren't mine, but w/e.

i quit and have a good job with a decent wage.

Not really the worst job ever, but AIG as a "financial analyst". I wrote that in quotes because it was advanced data entry in Excel. Thank god I'm getting the fuck out of there in 2 weeks to work for Moody's in NYC AIG is probably one of the worst mismanaged corporations ever (see: AIG stock price getting fucked in the ass by a full-sized arabian stallion).. it really is a fucking joke in my building.

My actual real worst job was retail @ Best Buy. They stuck me in the god damn printer aisle so I had to deal with people who couldn't figure out which ink cartridge they needed for their printer at home. Then to top it off, after Black Friday (or is it thursday? i dont care), my hours were magically cut every week by at least 50%. And during these new shit hours, they sent me to work in the back warehouse area to take new merchandise off the truck. A few weeks later I told my manager that I needed a week off for spring break. He said that it was cool and to come back after vacation to set up my hours for the following week. Never came back, fuck that place!

I saw some dude the other day delivering pizzas for Pizza Hut. He was like 45 years old and he looked so depressed when he took the triangle sign out of his back seat and attached it to the roof of his car. I could only wonder what could have possibly gone so wrong in his life to be doing that at his age.

KFC. Surrounded by disgusting food, serving predominantly bogans and asshole soccer mums, managers were the typical 'going nowhere so take it out on the people who worked there,' co-workers were either more of the same or emotionally unstable teenage girls. Eventually quit because I was on the verge of either walking out on the spot or snapping and getting into a serious argument with a customer.

Now I'm doing commissioned door to door charity work. Don't mind the work as long as it's not raining, money has the potential to be good - very good if you can sign enough people up, and the whole atmosphere in the workplace is so much better. Wouldn't want to be doing it 10 years from now, but as a 'can't decide what I want to study at uni or do for a career' job, it shits over hospitality.

Just so people know, bogans are like rednecks but for Australia.

peace.

Not to sound superficial, but that's why I have a college degree - to not be like what you just mentioned above. I only did pizza delivery as quickie startup job before I started my main day job, and then turned into a second nighttime job. After a while, I didn't need it anymore.
