First impressions after downloading and skipping tracks here and there:

The first The Mole tune is cool, had it on my list for a while.

3 last tracks are really nice, it's got this cool feelgood-discofunky-techhouse vibe. I remember Soundstream - Makin' Love catching my attention in a Funk D'Void set before.

The Stimming & Einmusik tune... I had just listened to the sample yesterday on Beatport and somehow I didn't like it - thought it was disappointing for a combination of 2 damn good producers. But listening to it here, in its entirety, at full volume in headphones... HOLY SHIT! The bassline is awesome and the whole thing is a complete monster of a tune. Best new track I've heard in weeks.

The rest of the tracks didn't catch my attention yet. More on the mixing later.

damn bas thank u so much for this. i always go back into my hip hop/rock phases when i haven't heard anything new or good in the edm scene (you know how i am, i don't really get into searching for stuff on my own except for once in a blue moon). i really needed this to get back into edm

i'm really digging tracks 2 & 3. i noticed the off mixing in the beginning but i don't care about that...however, it's a demo? like you're goin to be giving it to people? i'm surprised you would. not that it's shit or anything but even for someone like me who isn't a DJ, there were a couple of times where i was like, "woah, he's off".

anyway. awesome set. nice and funky and chill....just my style.

you get a gold star as always.

that only fools & horses track is easily my new fav love it! makes me want to go to a tropical island lol

Well "demo" is used loosely, it's not so much that I'm going to physically be handing it out to people but I've posted it here and another board as well as MySpace and Facebook. I know the mixing is off in some parts too. Turntables that have been abused for 5-6 years tend to need maintenance (which I'm going to get done next week). Things should be way more solid after that. This was just more of a way for me to get familiar with Traktor, get back into playing MY music on MY equipment at MY house instead of having to find a place to record a set with stuff I barely have any handle on.

Glad you liked regardless And yes...Holy Ghost! are easily some of my fav producers at the moment.

Posted by Skov on Jul-19-2008 02:54:

Really liked it, and as said before the 3-4 last tracks really fit nicely.

Posted by Zayatz on Jul-19-2008 19:19:

thank you very much for this mix! i've heard 'the way' in several sets but I never knew what a rare classic it is. Would love to have it on vinyl....

Posted by bas on Jul-19-2008 21:12:

Yeah I first heard it in Alex Flitsch's RA podcast a few weeks back. Searched for it on discogs...the track was released in 1996 Luckily a friend of mine is working on a new remix and happened to have a hi-q version of the track digitally

Posted by Slylee on Jul-20-2008 02:46:

i went out for drinks with my mom and her best friend from 20 years ago last night (that was interesting) and i put this on in the car and they were both like, "HEY! THIS IS COOL" and dancing around to it. lol

my mom asked me if she could have the CD so i left it with her in her car.

BAS ELGHARIB- touching hearts and souls from computer geeks, to hip chicks to soccer moms

Posted by bas on Jul-20-2008 05:13:

That's because your mom knows what the fuck is up.

If I play in Miami she's totally listed.

Posted by Sushipunk on Jul-23-2008 06:29:

So I was considering re-naming this set to "Time to go and do a bunch of shit, Stu"

Every time I've put it on, something happens where I have to go, and can't listen Cheers Bas.

This afternoon was an exception though Good stuff mate, I really enjoyed it

Posted by Az on Jul-23-2008 20:56:

thoroughly enjoyed this, needs more spirit catcher though

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Jul-24-2008 00:00:

Loved it. You need to record more often, your mixes always have class.

Posted by bas on Jul-24-2008 02:34:

Now that I've got Traktor set up and my turntables in the process of being repaired there will be more recorded sets from me. Maybe not monthly, that might be overkill

Posted by schlauf on Sep-13-2008 09:16:

Jester

Nice driving set. I'm not regularly listening to house music, so this set included some new tracks for me which I definitely enjoyed looking forward for more!
