(dont take this personal) Music and the Arts are supposed to be free from the sentiment of orchestrated gain or the corruption is infesting the very nature of it. It is an all GIVE situation and if you get something back besides equalisation for your own expenses then it should be respect and experience and not $$$! Live Yes - Profit NO! |
All profits go to the shave Paulie's balls society. "Save for a shave"

I understand it completely. I may not like it, but I understand it and would do the same thing if I was in that position. Business is business.

OK. I what I have posted above was naive and arrogant but there were reasons for that, however I'm not excusing myself for being a cockhead.
Firstly - I was pretty drunk.
Secondly - I have experienced just this sort of issue first hand myself, I used to put on an outdoor party once a year for about 200-250 friends, and one time a friend of mine who books/tours DJ's from overseas was gonna help me out and had lined-up a fairly well known tech-trance DJ who was in the country at the time, to make an appearance and the DJ was more than happy to. He was booked as one of the headliners at a well established event in Melbourne that draws a lot more people the next week. Closer to the time of our party the head organiser, who also books DJ's through the same friend told him to cancel his appearence at our party because he was worried that we'd take away his ticket sales which was bullshit. So I didn't want to cause my friend any grief or problems with this other event and accepted that the DJ wouldn't be able to make it. Yeah I was pretty disappointed but got over it and learnt that you don't really need big-name DJ's to be able to have a decent party for your friends. Anyway, I apologise for my rude post earlier and am glad that you Narcism at least got a laugh out of it.
