Music and the Arts are supposed to be free from the sentiment of orchestrated gain or the corruption is infesting the very nature of it. It is an all GIVE situation and if you get something back besides equalisation for your own expenses then it should be respect and experience and not $$$! Live Yes - Profit NO!

Well ain't that Armin's call then? He could choose not to sign with said promoter and just come out, find another promoter and just do gigs for free. Surely the man has enough $$ to fund his own gigs by now.

oh wait you said the same thing in another post.

If not free gig then he should do a charity event! All profit goes to xyz charity. Now that I'd like to see. Anyone got stats on the big djs and their contribution to the community? At least Tiesto released some nicely fashionable shoes :P

All profits go to the shave Paulie's balls society. "Save for a shave"

OH BLOODY HELL.

I understand it completely. I may not like it, but I understand it and would do the same thing if I was in that position. Business is business.

There's a lot more in this world much more fucked than whining about not seeing some DJ because he/she's exclusively signed to play at such and such event. Dude get some perspective on things.

OK. I what I have posted above was naive and arrogant but there were reasons for that, however I'm not excusing myself for being a cockhead.
Firstly - I was pretty drunk.
Secondly - I have experienced just this sort of issue first hand myself, I used to put on an outdoor party once a year for about 200-250 friends, and one time a friend of mine who books/tours DJ's from overseas was gonna help me out and had lined-up a fairly well known tech-trance DJ who was in the country at the time, to make an appearance and the DJ was more than happy to. He was booked as one of the headliners at a well established event in Melbourne that draws a lot more people the next week. Closer to the time of our party the head organiser, who also books DJ's through the same friend told him to cancel his appearence at our party because he was worried that we'd take away his ticket sales which was bullshit. So I didn't want to cause my friend any grief or problems with this other event and accepted that the DJ wouldn't be able to make it. Yeah I was pretty disappointed but got over it and learnt that you don't really need big-name DJ's to be able to have a decent party for your friends. Anyway, I apologise for my rude post earlier and am glad that you Narcism at least got a laugh out of it.

Why on earth would the company who have booked Ferry to play on New Years Day happily have him play at another party, in the same city on New Years Eve?

I think in the way of trance DJs coming to Australia we have been pretty lucky over the last twelve months. You have greater access to DJs than us techno fans. If Future wasnt backing this sound then you would see even less of them.

We dont really need Armin to come back again, do we?

LOL @ Teezdalien! You think that was an arrogant post? How polite of you
