Google is known to retrieve different results depending on the language you're using, but here's what I got when I googled "giro account":

It's an account opened at a post office that can be used in similar ways to an account at a bank [source], and giro is a banking term that refers to something that seems like an anti-cheque :)

Had never heard of that before either, must be an European thing (reason why it may have ranked higher in Portuguese, I don't know)

Ahh I saw that to but it was way far down in the results as compared to other things that made no sense. I thought that MAY be it, but being it was so far down in the results, I was unsure.

ive never had a problem with paypal, except transferring money from my bank account to my paypal account takes a good 10 days

but other then that its good, i buy stuff on ebay alot

That's why I mentioned how random Google's PageRank tends to be... it can be confusing at times

I try to avoid paypal as much as possible. It is a piece of shit because it has no regulations that it must submit to even though it is basically a bank.

If you are gonna be using ebay /paypal for the first time just watch out for spoof emails trying to obtain your password/ID.

Anyway, I guess it's a simple bank account, you can store and withdraw money from it, use it for online shopping etc.

You don't have a bank account from a regular bank? If you do, then you have a use for it. This exact reason that you made this extra account is why. No need for extra accounts.
