I got presumptuous about your sound after listening to your sets from last year (bittersweet for e.g.), but that has changed after hearing some of your recent work

The answer is clearly ...

vote for Arnej

eventhough I don't DJ

Posted by Sentinal on Aug-01-2008 19:36:

For me I would vote

Eddie Halliwell
Yoji
Alex Kidd
James Zabeila
Markus Schulz

Support your Toronto Locals!
especially in a year where I feel Toronto has taken off

My top 5 (this does not indicate personal preference overall rather takes into account the strides these djs have taken in the last year)

5. Nic Fanciulli (probably my second favourite out of all internationals this year. made my canada day and has largely influenced my own musical direction the last two to three months)

4. Armin Van Buuren (what can i say...still amazing despite my preference for house now. His album was a little vocally but still had three or four excellent tracks on it...plus his dj sets this year that i saw were some of the best i've ever seen from him)

3. Deko-ze (I feel Deko-ze really got back some of what i feel he lost last year. His sets were upbeat and banging again and his energy seemed to be back at levels of a couple of years ago)

2. The Roaches (nuff said? rawthentic continues to wow me on a weekly basis)

1. J-E-L-O (no one deserves this #1 slot in toronto more than him. brilliant stuff from a true master of his craft)

unbiased I would say, top 3

Sasha & Digweed (Spring Club Tour lots of attention)
Tiesto (ISOS 6 and 7, World Tour as well)
John 00 Fleming (New 3CD Psy-trance euphoria cd, his sets are flawless as well, introduced alot of good songs this year)

Posted by pete242 on Aug-02-2008 21:23:

right now I am thinking

- Armin: Imagine is not great, but decent, he has really developed the ability to keep me interested now in his long sets.

- PVD: Seen him a few times in the past year and a good ammount of downloaded sets, he is gettin back on top in my books.

- Mark Sherry: Loved his closing set at TE 2008

- Above and Beyond: Although no Toronto visit yet I am sure we will see em soon, and a lot of great Anjuna releases this year.

- NITROUS OXIDE: Been listening to more of his sets lately, followed by wicked and excellent remixes this year. There was quite a bit of demand to have him at ASOT 350, he is growing more and more.

But I am thinkin this is gonna change.

Here we go again

Axwell - With all the sets I heard from this through the year
Laidback Luke - I was very unipressed with his D.C. performance but the crowd sucked but he made it up with all those mixes/remixes I heard
Roger Sanchez - If it wasn't for his radio show he would rank down
Fedde Le Grand - Always throughing down a new remix of Changes
Marco V - Hes always surprising me with his mixes
