I was under the impression that the Motherboard has a very minimal graphics processor. You know, like how a camera comes with very minimal memory and you can get better memory for it.

The motherboard graphics thing is the integrated GPU. Without a graphics card you don't get an image at all.

Jenny; alot of motherboard that have on-board cards use all-in-one drivers, so if there's no dedicated driver for the video card, reinstalling the motherboard drivers should do it. But yeah.. definately get XP. It's a better and more stable system in every way.

Even though XP is a newer OS than Win98 make sure to keep your notes on the integrated drivers you need because they might not be built in and you will have to download some.

A word of advice: get all your drivers you can right now before you reformat because when you reformat you may not have network drivers which allow you to download them later.

oh, fucking with the graphics settings

a while back on my friend's pc (that he had built himself and was rather ghetto) i was going to change the resolution to a better setting to show him how the monitor was made to look best on a smaller res than he was using, and saw that the settings could go way past 1024x768. i'm talking like 3584x2688, and this was a monitor that came with a computer from way back that came with 95. it wasn't a good monitor. needless to say the screen went blank and instead of hitting nothing and letting it revert to the old settings someone spazzed on the keyboard and we were scuck with it. then, attempting to fix it somehow he ended up just completely fucking over the copmuter for good.

I've re-installed my CD Key so many times that it won't validate anymore. I've also shared it with other family member's computers and some of my friends.
The last time I re-installed, I just went to Best Buy (which is only a few blocks away) and took a cell phone picture of one of their display computer's CD-Keys.
