In Computer Music last month there was a production tutorial from Breeze & Styles which are the minds behind Cascada (chart hitting hardstyle type of group). They've had some big hits and recently turned sold their hardware and started working with mostly software. In one of the shots they've used in the Computer Music Magazine you can clearly see they use cracked plugins (a plugin registered to Team H2O, right ). Quite sad. Obviously nearly everyone does it

I'm against it and have a 100% legal setup and software packages myself. Lately I've been investing a lot. I've spent a couple of 1000 Euro's this year only. It's costly but if you're serious about it you will find the necessary cash to fund it.

I've been following this thread because its hilarious, and its good to see some of the members back in newbie bashing form. We don't have to tolerate stupid questions.
I have already fulfilled my bashing quota for the week, so I wasn't going to post, but I'm frankly amazed by whats being said here. Cascada should be ashamed of themselves, I don't know how much money they have, but surely its enough to buy their plugins legally
Its one thing if you've been using a bunch of cracked plugins and slowly legalising them as you get the cash, but its another thing when your one of the biggest dance acts in the world (sad but true) and you don't have legal plugins. Especially when you've become one of the biggest dance acts in the world on the back of those plugins.
The only other option, is that maybe they haven't made any money off their releases, which is an even scarier thought

I assume you're talking about their most expensive bundle (Mercury), which includes every single one of their plugins ever?

If Access made a gold-plated Virus TI which cost a million dollars, would you compare that Virus to the price of Waves?

I own the gold bundle, which comes with a great selection of quality plugins, and is around half the price of a TI.

Yes, Waves plugins are quite a bit more expensive than most, and are probably overpriced, but people have the choice to buy other plugins, just like people have a choice of buying a less expensive car, rather than stealing a mercedes/ferrari/whatever.

However, for a lot of people who expect to pay zero dollars for their software, any amount is too expensive - what are these greedy software developers thinking, wanting to pay their bills and feed their families? Just because something isn't contained in a nice looking hardware unit, people assume the technology was somehow easier to develop, that somehow it doesn't involve a person in a real paid job working for months/years.

Meh, as long as enough of us support the developers of the tools we use, we'll keep getting better tools in future.

Cascada does sort of handsup eurodance music and is produced by manuel reuter an yann pfeifer, so wtf are you talking about? Just because you get rmx'ed by some stupid hardstuff dj's (B&S) usin warezed plugins you would like to get your name messed, right?

ok, it is manuel's own label letting those guys remix the tracks. so he should check if they used warezed stuff? this is one good example for what the threadstarter was asking...

Ive mentioned before that cascada and basshunter use pure nexus presets , and if basshunter writes a song about and internet chat relay bot , you can be sure his version is nicked.

Posted by hereander on Aug-14-2008 12:26:

i dont know about basshunter...

but Schleis/Vengeance and Reuter/Cascada are linked in one way or the other and have at least worked together in the past so I don't think anyone would have to use a cracked version of nexus if they get it for free. Maybe it's even the other way round sometimes (patches that work good for cascada got into nexus rompler to excite all the wannabe-cascadas)

You're right. Thank you for setting that straight. B&S just remixed Cascada. Sorry

Of course he should not check that. It's the artists own responsibility to acquire software via legal routes. It's a risk the artist takes, not the label. If the music is composed with cracked plugins that doesn't make the composition illegal, or the income generated by the song. It just means the artist is in breach of the law by having the software, and if some person or organisation with authority decides to pay a visit, you're screwed .

Exactly. Considering the amount of tracks they've had this year in the top 10 I'd say they'd easily be able to afford it.

I have to admit I never even considered that and it gave me a bit more respect for Cascada just not knowing.

At the end, presets or not, I think their music is great and was no easy task in the least.
