Dude, do not give up yet! Take the corrupted drive out, put in to another PC and run a data recovery program. Same thing happened to me years ago, and I got back actually about 40% of my stuff. Now think that data recovery software has moved on a lot since then and as long as the drive is mechanically working it's all there.

BACKUP YOUR STUFF. post it online or use an external drive or burn stuff.

It happens and it does suck.

That is a good point about data recovery there a bunch of programs that can recover data if your drive hardware is not broke.. the data is still on there.. the OS is just changed.. even if the data is deleted from the FS.. you can still get it back by constructing a new FAT table using recovery software. Only a physical crash or an encrypted crash is next to imposible to recover without a ECE computer engineer with specialized equipment for partial recovery.. it is still there if you don't overwrite it. 2 of the 5 times I was able to recovera large chunk of data 9although I ended up loosing it.. still have the harddrive from the physical crashes.. .. but the plater/needle is damaged (electrical needle etc.. so very expensive to recover those ones.. somehing for when I'm rich and famous I geuss or an ECE.

So if you'd like your data back and the drive works.. disconnect the drive and connect it to another computer.. get recovery software (I can suggest some if you'd like)

and recover you data.

If you use an encryptian key and dont have it.. anymore.. that is it was stored in your user profile.. then things are a lot more difficult if not impossible. That is why you should always write your encryptian key somewhere safe like in a book or behind painting etc..

It also helps to have seperate computers.. one for internet and one for workdesk software.. if you have a third system specifically to test all new software and configure stuff it can help. Alaso having two externals help--- one for data interface and the second as a backup drive --- an online drive or dumps to sites like megaupload might help also.

It wasn't just my tracks I lost though.. I lost a lot of data files and other stuff including my exploration of reality ... basically I lost the transfer of my mind from a normal to post existentialist.. and that is pretty heavy. Everything hsppens for a reason .. even though it burned me out.. life goes on.
thankes for the addvice there mate im now back up and running again so things are better then they were. im gunna use my old pc for back up and save all my shot to disc for further mishapes.
