Dude, electronic music wouldn't have the following it does if it weren't for those things. It might not be about those things for you, but it is for many of the people listening out there - the people creating the momentum and the excitement of the best parties around the world - you think they're all sober and straight?

The trailer looks very interesting. I would definitely check out the movie if i didn't have to wait in line.
It's like an amateur 2008 version of a mashed-up remix of Trainspotting and It's all gone Pete Tong... lol!

Yes, because we all know when you're at the 6th after-after-after party in Berlin, that everyone has simply gone to sleep through the 2nd-5th after party to be awake, perky alert and sober.

While not everyone is on drugs, to deny that drugs are not a pretty large part of the scene is pretty silly IMO.

its not the denial of it but the concept of change in focus and drugs btw are a huge part of all music cultures yet only electronica is ONLY known for the drugs and not anything else

honestly this movie is not only about drugs sex and the gays....
but i definately add some excitement and drama and relates alot to our
scene.

"Usually films of musicians are about Americans or the British who are dead. It doesnt matter if it is Jim Morrison , Charlie Parker, Joe Strummer, Kurt Cobain , Brian Jones, Ian Curtis or Johnny Cash, the struggle of survival of the musician is always set in the context of the time he has been living in. Consequently these movies become a portrait of society , a picture of manners, a social study and an impression of a time. The mostly self-destructive fight of the artist becomes a metaphor for a generation. In case of Rockn Roll heroes societys atmosphere of departure is emphasized. Art and insanity are the main subjects in all these portraits of artists for me. The spectator is tied up in the passionate , unconventional lifestyle of the main character. Will the artist stand or fall- or fly too close to the sun ? Indeed Led Zeppelin used the legend of Ikarus as a Logo.

Why not draw a portrait of a German musician? May be even about an artist who is still alive? Why move into the past if reality is exciting enough? Why not make a movie about a composer of electronic music? The musicians of the YouTube generation compose on their Laptops. They fly around the world, they dont need any texts and sell their tracks as downloads. Therefore they are independent of major record companies. In the best of intentions they are service providers for the enthusiastic dancers of a globalised club landscape. BERLIN CALLING is no biopic. The film draws a ficticious portrait of a musician in todays Berlin. It is about art and insanity, inebriation and ecstasy , hope and future , friendship and family , music and the joy to live and of course about love."

Hannes Sthr

The the soundtrack sounds promising. It says it was provided by the actor/Dj/Producer: Paul Kalkbrenner who has Toronto & Montreal listed on his next tour dates Sept. 13 Footwork & 14th (Piknic Electronic).

As for the movie...it looks good.
...and LKD... if you ever became an international Dj/Producer, I KNOW you'd be the biggest junkie and quite possibly bi lol

I'd like to come out of retirement for this but something tells me I won't. Either way, Paul Kalkbrenner is one DJ/producer I respect and aspire to be like. His song 'Gebrunn Gebrunn' served as my 'study song' for the last few years: I've probably listened to it over 1,000 times.

I think what LKD is saying is that these movies glorify irresponsibility.
