Scroll wheel (I am aware of the new trackball)
Java OS (it is slow)
Slow data connection (My damn EDGE connection faster than 3g on a lot of BBs)
Not able to be customized as much
Email is too basic.
Office compatibility sucks ass
The screen resolution is low (I am aware that most WM phones have a pretty low res too)

of those the only two that are still valid are the basic email and the Java OS.
My data connection is great (and I'm on EDGE), v4.6 has great compatability to MS office, and the new BBs (bold, javlin, thunder) have high res screens (granted the Javlin and Thunder aren't out yet but they'll blow you away when released).
Dude, try playing with some newer models!... scroll wheel, what is this 1999?

Umm considering almost all businesses issue the 8703e still because it is cheap, they are very prevalent. Also, I did note that I was aware of the track ball. I used the 8830s on a daily basis at my old job. I am quite aware of the new products. They still suck though. They are getting better, but they are way behind.

ps: my newer phone I just got for cheap a couple weeks ago has a scroll wheel..but that is on top of the fact that it has a touch screen, a real internet browser, and a whole host of other features that the bb doesn't. Like a flash that I use as a flashlight, a good messaging app. yes better than the bb one, 3g, memory card slot, etc...oh and must I mention this model is 2.5yrs old?

all things that the curve, pearl, bold, etc have or you can add through softwear apps. And if business standard down there is still the 87series then it's not RIM that's way behind.

FYI, touch-screen BB coming in a Oct/Nov (thunder).

It's not okay to party like it's 1999 either... that new-years sucked... nothing worse then coke-heads yammering on and on about how fucked up everything's going to be because of the y2k is going to destroy the world, then the same coke-heads yammering on and on about what a scam the y2k bug was once they realized the world didn't explode at 00:01.

They are still the standard because even at my old company with 400lines, we got the 8703e for $89 and the 8830 was $179. The price disparity is even worse with less lines.

Yeah I know. I saw the leaked photos like 2-3 months ago.

The Samsung OMNIA is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and comes packed with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word). Even though the OMNIA is 100% touch screen, Samsung included an optical mouse for ease of navigation - the optical mouse is similar to what youd find on laptops. Samsung OMNIA is possibly the best ever smartphone that Samsung has ever built. OMNIA is definitely a better name than SGH-i900, which means everything in Latin and wish in Arabic. The OMNIA is essentially everything that you can possibly wish for on a Windows Mobile 6.1 smart phone. It brings together high performance business content, high-end design mixed with a full bag of dynamic multimedia rich experience.

The Android is about to come out, you should check that out.

The N95 is awesome but the lack of qwerty keyboard kills it for me. Personally I'm happy with my iPhone. I've got a first gen that I got when they first came out and I haven't had a single problem with it.

Yeah it will be out on the HTC Dream on T-Mobile first.

Sure, iPhones are impressive but ffs, get off the fanboy bandwagon and you'll see that it's missing quite a few features and is far from the best you can get.

Nope quite happy on the wagon.

Sure it has missing features but fuck it. Free upgrade to newest models, looks cool, feels cool. It's sex in a phone.

Blackberries are also painfully underspec too, and all the iPhone alternatives look like shit.

HTC Daimond doesnt look too bad, neither dos N95 8Gb (cant wait for the N96 to come out though...16Gb internal memory ).

However, for me there is only one phone out there, and if i get this new job i applied for im sooo going to get one. The E90

I almost caved in and got the Omnia last week, but I have the resolve to wait until the Touch Pro is picked up by a UK network and will get that

Propriety usb connection and lack of qwerty keyboard put me off it.

I love being able to charge my phone on pretty much any pc as most digital cameras have a usb-miniusb cable, so I can almost always charge my phone wherever I am

Oh, and check this out:

Posted by elFreak on Aug-26-2008 16:43:

a good alternative to the iphone is actually socializing with people face to face.

i hear the rates are good on data packages for that.
