According to google maps it's about a 50 minute walk from my place to guv - which I don't find THAT long. I think I walk faster than most people if I don't feel like dogging it so this route isn't out of the question on a nice day. Though I probably wouldn't walk back after a long night of dancing

I used to walk from guv all the way to Yonge and Davisville.

Quite a few Chinese businesses in that area but it's not Chinatown...

East Chinatown

As property values increased in downtown Chinatown, many Chinese Canadians migrated to Toronto's east end in Riverdale. A second, somewhat smaller, Chinese community was formed, centred on Gerrard Street East between Broadview Avenue and Carlaw Avenue. Chinese-Vietnamese and mainland Chinese immigrants dominate this district. East Chinatown, though, is somewhat smaller than Toronto's main Chinatown, but is growing. The main part of East Chinatown is located between Broadview Avenue, and Carlaw Avenue, on Gerrard Street. At the north-most corner of East Chinatown (NW corner, Broadview & Gerrard Street), there is the Riverdale branch of the Toronto Public Library. This branch is quite bilingual in Chinese and English. East Chinatown can be accessed by taking the 504 King, the 505 Dundas, or the 506 Carlton Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) streetcars.

East Chinatown has one specific thing that I love:

Bill's Lobster

Yeah, I know it sounds like a bullshit name, but they've got the best price per pound on live lobster in the city. Also, they've got probably the best selection of available live seafood in terms of crab, varying fish (as it changes with the season), and seasonal caught-&-frozen fare, without making you pay through the nose for it. Still one of the few places I've ever been able to get 4/6 count scallops.

hahaha I've done this many times (biking to a club), once I wiped out pretty hardcore on my way to hotel on a thursday night, hit the curb and fell right on to the sidewalk

the key is to just park around the corner so you dont look like a retard.

However, unless you are a starving student like me, you can probably afford to cab

but biking does seem to be the fastest way to get around the downtown core

Can't wait until I move downtown!!

Now that would be walking distance to Guvernment! lol
