Yes, I can also wear a thick coat, my warmest sweater, a scarf and a ski mask when going out in summer and feel comfortable for a while. The point is that it's stupid.

Yeah, saving $2-5 and a hassle with bullshit at the end of the night is stupid. Okay.

What were you doing rocking a sweater at Pawn Shop dude?

I don't know what the norm is for the rest of you fags, but I usually hit about 5 or 6 pubs and bars before heading off to the 'main' club of the night. I can't be fucked dealing with a cloakroom 5 or 6 times. Especially when pubs don't even fucking have them, and even more so when I don't even notice it's cold when I'm shit faced.

My ex used to make me laugh though - She'd just randomly chuck her coat somewhere in the first place we went, like under a couch or behind a curtain, and then come back for it at the end of the night. I of course used to rip into her for doing it.

well i've lived in both climates, although my long, snowy winters in japan were definitely a long time ago (15-17) so it's been a while.

i will tell you one thing though...you people bitch about the cold, but it really does suck living in a damn jungle...especially around the holidays. it's so sticky and muggy. baby powder is like a necessity for me so my ass crack doesn't turn into swamp butt lol. it is so hot and humid down here. i swear after just walking out of my apartment and down the stairs and getting into my car, i literally have a wet sweaty back and feel like i need a shower again. that shit gets old fast.

i think i'd rather bundle up in some nice winter gear...not all year round, but i mean, at least have that in the fall/winter. i would appreciate summers more i think.

i was just wondering about how it is in colder cities when you go out re: the clothing situation. seems like a pain to have a big coat to deal with and keep track of.

ladies, what if it's snowing or freezing cold out and you're heading to a bar....do you wear boots still or heels and just let your toes freeze?

that's totally something i would do lol. in fact, i used to do it with my purse a lot, but i wouldn't leave it there and go to another club. i would just hide it in the club i was in so i could walk around and dance and not have to worry about it. i would keep my I.D. & visa check card/cash in my pockets if i had any or have my bf hold it. if someone took my purse, it wouldn't be the end of the world. i would just lose the purse and some lip gloss or something.

I'd rather live in the cold for 4 months than constant heat.

For shoes... why are you wearing open toes in the winter? Crazy. Stilettos are fine...your feet shouldn't get THAT cold because you shouldn't be outside for too long. This is when sexy boots come in handy. Keep you warm + you look hot.

I do coat check if I'm not driving to keep it in the car. I don't care having to pay 2-3$ for them to hold my coat.

Posted by Allied Nations on Sep-01-2008 23:07:

A lot of girls I know have longer coats here... unless they are the type whos always wearing pants...

I often walk to a club from home, I'm downtown so it's not bad, but when it's -30 the down jacket is so necessary.

You are spoiled with awesome weather if 60 is sweater weather for you.

I'd be wearing a sweater or something warm at 60 as well

Buncha pansies.

Posted by Project-K on Sep-01-2008 23:21:

That's what, 15 celcius or so? You're a bunch of pansies.

Posted by Domesticated on Sep-01-2008 23:27:

It only gets to about 5 degrees celsius here, or sometimes 0.

Question: when it gets below 0, does a change in temperature even make much difference? i.e between -5 and -20, is it noticeable?

haha, oh boy.

In all fairness though, below -30 you can't really feel any of your body anymore so it doesn't really matter.

Posted by Frenchie on Sep-01-2008 23:32:

With windchill? Yes. Makes all the difference. It can be -10c and not be so bad...you add windchill...you want to die.

That's what I figured.

At -5 everything is pretty much already frozen, so another 10 or 15 degrees shouldn't make much difference?

I'd like to see how you Canadians would stand up to one of our 45 degree summers. I revel in that shit.

Posted by Slylee on Sep-01-2008 23:32:

from what i remember, it's all about having the right clothes and layering right?

Posted by Clovis on Sep-01-2008 23:37:

It's not that I can't stand the cold, I just never get an excuse to wear warmer clothes in LA. I like wearing jackets and long sleeve shirts.

california gets pretty damn chilly even in the summer. you guys get that nice mountain air + the pacific ocean breeze. it's diff than in florida. not saying it doesn't get hot there, of course it does...but it's not nearly as muggy/humid.

Its so hilarious to see someone so clueless about how to handle cold weather. Once youre here, youll manage.

Yeah it makes a big difference. I can usually tell the difference if it's a few degrees, like between -10 and -13 for instance. But it's mostly other factors that determine how bearable it is, stuff like wind and humidity. A humid -25 feels much worse than a dry -50 like up in northern Quebec. In the long run you start perceiving it relatively, meaning that 0 becomes actually quite comfortable, or even warmish.

Been there, it wasn't anything more than a mild discomfort really. But then I've always liked the heat.
