Can someone please give me a review of Dave Seamen and D-Formation? The Music must have been pretty bad ass...
was actually very much fun, had a blast. D-formation and DS were really amazing, good contrast to the gaynesssssss of peter r.
more later, let me sleep
dave seaman was very good. no vocals for 2h30 except for one song that i wish he hadn't played cause i just find it absolutely cheesy: sweet dreams by eurythmics. i wasnt sure how they were gonna make the transition between dave's progressive house to peter rauhofer's more tribal/gay house but it went well. peter ripped it (i thought he was gonna suck). sorry i dont have any of the technical language to describe their sets lol. i was 100% sober, got there towards the end of miguel garcas set around 1AM and both dave and peter were able to keep me up and dancing until at least 6:00AM (so no d-formation for me - i'll have to wait till november).
nice vibe to the party. not too jammed packed like bal and blanc but a large enough crowd to fill the palais des congres. enough room to dance and easily move through the crowd to get places. everything went smoothly, even going to the bathroom wasnt's so bad! and no line-ups to get in.
im not sure how was the sound from the back throughout the night. my first impression is that it wasn't loud enough. but i moved up and found myself halfway from the DJ booth and that big pyramid they had set up in the middle and i was happy with the sound. i wish the vocals came out more clearly.
people who paid VIP i dont think it was worth it in my opinion. why do they always set the VIP stages BEHIND the speakers!! you're VIP you should pay to be where the music sounds best!
summary: loved it.

i went for rauhofer.
i left after rauhofer.
Rauhofer KILLED it. (personal opinion)
i keep getting visuals of the crowd going bananas when he dropped "sweet dreams". one of my greatest nights ever.
good job montreal!

Amazing part. First Black and Blue, definitely will be there next year. This was my fourth rave and I can say it was the best: Great Vibe and shows. Crowd was very interactive and on top off that the organization was really good. It took us five minutes to go in unlike Bel en Blanc. I got there right before Dave Seamen started. By far he delivered the best set of the night, everyone was going crazy with each tune he dropped. Rauhofer came in at around 4 I guess, he was ok not my style. Mark Anthony, I dont wanna sound rude but he just didnt deliver a good set, D-formation a lot of banging tunes, very progressy, he dropped one or two trance tunes

So who wants to see Bal en Blanc's Tiesto gig?
For those who have never been to any Black and Blue's, it's pretty much the same vibe as the Bal en Blanc massives, with a few key exceptions: I would say when I arrived at midnight, half the crowd was decidely straight, so it still felt like any other massive (this was my fourth B&B). All the hot girls were there so the crowd didn't seem dramatically different than say, Bal en Blanc.
However, being able to pick up my ticket rather easily at the Priape boutique the day before (with no service fees), being able to enter the massive in 30 mins, and being able to take in a real visual electronic presentation definitely sets this one apart.
Save for the crappy bathroom situation we're all familiar with at the Palais des Congres, Black and Blue was much better bang for the buck.
By the way, did any of you notice some renovations with the Palais? Also, the bathroom herding took place in another set of stairs. That threw me off. What also threw me off was some of the washroom gay sketchiness I was feeling, particularly the one guy who proceeded to stand at a urinal for what seemed like an eternity, complete with most of his ass hanging out with a g-string for everyone to see.
No wonder the stall signs said "only one person per stall."
MUSICALLY SPEAKING
It's always a rush to walk into a massive. Miguel Graa's party opening set was pretty diverse, though I missed 70 percent of it, arriving at midnight. It didn't do a lot for me, some vocals, some minimal tech but a bit too choppy to get my dancefloor groove on. No issues.. it's just a warm up set.
IMO, David Seaman spilled a mediocre load of a set
. His set was too trancey house for me, a bit commercial cheesy at times and also failed to get the dozen of us moving. I think his set ended with Sweet Dreams, similarly to that of Steve Lawler's set at Resolution. Must be a Brit thing, smirk.
Wow, thank God for Peter Rauhofer. I had nervously hyped this dj to my friends - I say nervous because I have heard that he can be up and down. But his set at Bal en Blanc 2006 was simply dancefloor orgasmic.
Tech tribal, tech house, pounding progressive house, pick your genre.. however, Rauhofer's set chugged along beautifully, and really picked up this party, finally at 4AM! This dj really focused on moving that dancefloor.
A buddy of mine, a fellow dj'iing TA also lauded Mark Anthony - and now I can see why. Anthony's set was deliciously dark, sinister, funky, vocal, percussive..all the elements that justify dancing well into the wee hours of the morning.
D-Formation. Dimas. Well, if any of you took the time to download the link I posted on here, you'd get a bit of a chuckle from his Black and Blue set: almost identical track selection, though with four hours to drop some of his magic (compared to a 90 min download), Dimas was able to put together one of the more masterful sets of the evening. I say masterful because he always seemed to know when to slow it down, when to throw in some minimal groove, when to roll in some pounding basslines and when to drop some vocals too.
Other notes: was anyone approached by a dude asking for stuff, then asking for bodybuilding tips? Is that the new narc approach?
Also, did you see the Christmas tree dude with the red bulbs? I gave him the thumbs up, that was pretty cool to see.
Miguel Graa 7/10 (again, missed 3/4 of his set though)
Peter Rauhofer 10/10
Dave Seaman 5/10
D-Formation 9/10
Mark Anthony 10/10
Vibe 8/10. Overall, 8.5/10
Please go back to Olympic next year.
In any case you BBCM guys definitely put the other org to shame

Anyone notice how vigorous the checking was at B&B? The chick frisking me pulled my belt buckle and did some fondling just under it, and one of my buddies had his whole package touched. Geez, at least put some hot chicas there to do that if that's the case

yeah, you may be right. That's how many they had for '06 though (about 6-7000) and at least the bathroom situation was a bit better if u can dig the odd nasty portable. Palais is a good location in any case, close to lots of hotels.
Maybe an easy solution to that is to put portables in the Palais.. can't remember the reason why there aren't ones there, it's been discussed on here before.
Soooo sick of Dubfires Grindhouse ....gah
I heard it over 100 times now I think.
