Yeah, the gay community had stopped supporting them because they were doing some straight nights and the straight community was scared of the place because it was a Gay club. Go figure!

That's one of the main reasons I never went to liquified shows @ swerve/wetbar, only Opera, due to it's affiliation as a gay club, not that I'm homophobic, it just doesn't feel right partying at the same place as gay dudes. I was actually assuming the gay community died off or something as the reason for their closing.

Also, has liquified thought of using Saturday & an 18+ venue for their future events since swerve is going away. Not that I'm under 21, but I think business wise you'd pull a lot more customers, I know that under 21 can't buy alcohol but if people saw more people at the venues it would create a chain reaction and the over 21 crowd would be more willing to show up. Hell the majority of the EDM fans are college aged from 18-22, so it would make sense to do this. Plus I see people on here crying all the time when it's an over 21+ event for a good dj. And come on get realistic, most of the people that go to EDM, and I said most, aren't drinking alcohol, they are fk'd up on another type of drug. Therefore your water sales would increase! Haha, look at tiesto, it was $7 a bottle for water and $5 for a bottle of beer, now thats just funny... Now thats using the rave scene to your advantage to make money... Although it does seem kind of sketchy lol.

And with all due respect Maggie, we get it.

You might, but unfortunately I have a hard time coming to terms with having to blow thousands of $$$ on nonsense (like criminal justice attorneys), so I'll probably still be bitching about this (and the involuntary forfeit of my late summer vacation on account of) two months from now.

However, I won't be offended if you ignore my rants on the subject

Same, really sucks cause I'd heard such good things.

Wow, this really sucks...

So what are the plans for the space now?

That's just all I ever see from you now. And I'm not going to ignore you, because you have better things to say than that. Do you not remember the great times you had there that outnumber that one incident by 10s? It wasn't even the Wetbar head staff, but a rent-a-cop and bouncer. We all know they screwed you. Just calm down.

I do remember having many good nights there, and I do remember having a fucking blast at deadmau5. You saw how I hyped that show on Facebook, and I was as excited as a 14 year old girl at an NSYNC concert to be there, and EVERYONE had a great time up until the end.

We talked to the manager/owner of the place and he gave us a "yeah, whatever, I don't care" attitude when we spoke with him, polite and dignified, by the way, so that's the real reason I wouldn't return.

But, anyways... I'm looking forward to many shows to come that I can attend with my friends and be happy.

I vote we all rally outside Opera and demand they convert it back to eleven50, then I'll be happy =P

Smoking ..umm..something

TRULY sad news. First we lost Backstreet and now Blu. I have a lot of memories in that place when i started going there '02. I can honestly say, I never had a bad time when I was at Blu. When it first became blu, the place was pure glitz... amazing sound, a lighting system to finally rival Backstreet's and a clientele that made the place fucking nutz.... The usual drill was to hit Blu from 12ish to 4ish, then head over to Backstreet for the tail end of Rob Reum's set while the drunktards were flowing out and then the 5AM beat drop into after hours and ALWAYS Sunday Church

C'est lavie!

Wetbar is awesome. It's too bad straight people can't wise up and realize that they live in a city with a large gay population. I don't see what's so bad about the gay guys there it should be just about the music right? Anyway the gays seriously do know how to party. What a shame to see this place go.

Posted by Ang ' ela_ie on Sep-07-2008 03:53:

oh my god noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Posted by Renzo on Sep-08-2008 00:26:

Interesting. The only place the gays have now is Sam's ass.

Shame.... I will miss the patio. I had a great time there the one time I was there for Sasha. How is opera?

The one time I went it was dire. It was alright at best as 1150.

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Sep-08-2008 12:30:

we should go back to stuff at the tabernacle and use centerstage more that place kicks ass.

Posted by CyclonesWorld on Sep-08-2008 15:09:

Tabernacle staff pisses me off. Centerstage is amazing though, I support that idea.

Tongue and Groove has an awesome sound system, too bad the dance floor seems smaller than my kitchen table

We can start hosting events in your kitchen?

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Sep-08-2008 19:22:

Sure, why not? Luan and Bong have some KILLER homemade speakers and awesome equiptment.

"Ideas.. Ideas of bringing and promoting more EDM events into Atlanta.. We had ideas... ideas that had turned us completely mad; our obsession eventually lead us into wanting to create our own unique sound for our live events. Our goal? Building our own sub woofers from scratch; to produce a system that would destructively break below 28Hz. We wanted to create BASS so low that you really cant hear... BUT you CAN definately FEEL. We also wanted it to HIT... and hit HARD.

Two of these horns (boxes) contain four "12 sub woofers (two in each box) and will produce about 29Hz-30Hz. When paired with two more horns for a total of four (eight "12s), we can surely break the 28Hz mark. We dont plan to stop there... And these pictures are only the beginning of our vision."

... too bad no venue has agreed to let us bring them yet. I guess they're intimidating

Posted by iammesol on Sep-08-2008 19:25:

That's pretty frickin' epic.

Posted by charon on Sep-08-2008 19:55:

Those look sweet. I have to see them when I come to atl !
