Wow with all that setup his music still sounds like some a-hole banging pots and pans together. Just like trance its the same old boring crap we've heard a billion times before

The weird thing about EDM and DJ culture in general is this paradoxical reverence for the big stars coupled with widespread rejection of technological innovation... which is precisely what keeps guys like Richie at the forefront. I liked hearing him state what I try to get across to some people--essentially, that certain parts of DJing are fundamentally uncreative (matching tempos, for example) and that your time is better spent on other things.

I like that buildup he does around the end of minute 6...

completely agree with what you said, imagine how much more creative you can be with your mix and loops and effects live when you have the beatmashing done for you , let alone the mash ups you can create on the fly and then sample those mashups into a another mash up , oh jeez hahaa

richie is one advance DJ i would say, at least he is not using ableton to play the whole set like deep dish and throw some filters and flan, he is performing more live..

great vid, thanks for the post..

It's much more about grabbing X tracks at once and automatic beatmatching. It's about having the best from both worlds playing digital files and manipulating them as if they were vinyl records.

I think everything was explained very clearly by Richie in the first video anyway

If I can track down links quickly, I'll post them.

Also, Rob...did you manage to find the links to the DEMF set? I googled it but no luck

Nice Richie, I'm glad you've found a way to make all that boring music you play slightly more interesting...

Posted by Airshow on Sep-24-2008 22:52:

... I like that 'hollow' sounding beat around the 1 minute mark...

In all fairness, the last few recent vids I've seen of Richie have been made of win.
