No matter how much you complain, you'll never control the actions of others. You do have control over your own inner state though.

RickyRoma complains about everything and anything. Such a bitter person.

Who wants a light show?

Lets talk about some of the Socal EDM regulars:

Asians: I have many Asian friends. I use to hang around and study with normal Asian people up in UCLA. For some reason I don't see these normal Asians at these events. You got these FOBBY freaks who take so much E they sit drugged out on the dance floor. Its f*cking annoying...its as if they sleep all week and wake up Friday/Saturday night to come to these shows.

Middle Eastern/Armenian MALES: Whats up with these buffoons??? As Ferris described Cameron..if you shoved a coal up their asses you'd get diamonds. Someone tell these morons its a freakin' EDM show...get over yourselves geez.

Loner weirdos: I seem to see alot of goobers going clubbing by themselves down here in Socal. They usually stand out on the sides of the dance floor staring away at people. F*ckin weirdos

Have you ever posted anything that wasn't some 2 cent hate-filled diatribe?

The biggest thing for me is that LA needs at least 2 more new clubs. I hope my wish is granted next year when I come back

It's funny, cause I use to be one of those that say, glowsticks are for kids. I'm 28.

I got on youtube and started to see the pretty cool stuff you can do with glowsticks, with glowstringing...its pretty bad ass

You'll usually see me doing my thing in the back, but thats probly cause i go to Circus, its like club meets rave. I'm not a kiddie candy kid or a full blown douche (ed hardy) clubber. I've been doing this since the late 90's. we all got our opinion. :P

Gonna get flamed, but fuck it - glowsticks are so childish - it just looks and feels so lame and dated to be a club with people waving glowticks about.

Wow, look at the colors, so cool. Come on, Grow up.

Mickey mouse glove? Seriously? You should be able to figure out that it's in the name. You're in club where you need to be over 21 and your wearing micky mouse gloves. Do really I have to go on?

Clubs need to realise in the long term, this is not a good thing for them as a business or for their name - you only have to look at what happened to gatecrasher in the UK. ALso, when you let the epuddles get out of hand, then one of them dies.....well you know where this goes.

Older (more sophisticated) clubbers get turned off by seeing this sort of thing, and you end up with a club only full of kids, washers, puddles, and crackheads.

I'm not saying don't do your own thing or be expressive etc - that's what it's all about but there has to be a line somewhere.

I suppose dancing in $300 Italian loofers and butt tight jeans with a v-neck is your flavor of "clubbing"?

yeah they will be, i'll be stepping over them to get to the house room for lawler. fck i hate all ages raves, but i don't miss lawler when he comes to town, so i'll deal with it

now that i've gotten a chance to club in spain/ibiza there are major differences some great, some not so great. trust me, every state/city/country/area has their issues with idiots that attend clubs/raves/festivals. it's managing to look beyond that, find a way to avoid and enjoy the reason that we have all gathered, the music!!!

now that i've been going to these techno festivals, there are fewer raver kids with glow sticks but a hell of a lot more meth heads all kinds of geeked out and looking scary, almost making me wish for the raver kids lol. and of course what i like to dub as the "techno uniform" the same 50 girls running around dressed, in what they probably see as a unique outfit, all painfully looking identical. but whatever, i'm sure people rag on my outfits, hell, i look back at some pics and think, wtf was i thinking.

but as stated previously, let people have their fun, however they interpret it, as long as it doesn't impose on others fun and freedoms, have at it. i just can't stand when their inability to handle their drug of choice becomes a problem for me and trust me, the european clubs aren't without their problems: public enemy number one for women : itailian me!!!!!! sorry, they were just so disrespectful over there!!!!

Posted by system-7 on Sep-20-2008 22:24:

my defense for how glowsticking can be cool.

Posted by blaze on Sep-20-2008 22:32:

what does the 'techno uniform' consist of?

headband, bad 80's clothes, some crazy colors combined together, non-flattering patterns, think of the early 80's dance videos and you've pretty much got it oh shit and spandex, can't believe someone unburied that and brought it back. sorry, it's just comical to me to see women dressed the way i used to dress in 7th and 8th grade in the 80's, and yes i'm that old so fck off

oooh i cant stand that! just because they buy some accessories from urban outfitters doesn't make one unique lol. i dont consider my self part of any scene, that way i dont feel obligated to wear dumb shit.

Aight I just got back from Ibiza last Thursday and honestly I am scared of how my mind will react the next time I step into Vanguard or Avalon I mean I live here so I have no choice but to witness for example Pacha and then come to Vanguard can cause brain injury the scene sucks ass here but I will say one thing as edm becomes more popular as it has been you will def see more clubs for example there is a Pacha in the works for Las Vegas and Los Angeles and once that happens I promise no more glow sticks and the other mess and Avalon will go out of business because no good dj would rather play at Avalon over Pacha..........

Dammit, you've seen me clubbing!

No that's not my speed, but there has to be some middle ground - something in between putting colored fridge magnets in your hair (spelling out XTC etc) and those italian crocodile skin winklepickers.

This all is so true. It happened in the UK about 8 years ago - all these "cyberkids" were running about clubs, mostly underage and all thinking they were so different and individual but they actually all looked the same, just a mess of flourescent colors, glowsticks and bright hairdyes.

...but glowticks. Come on? I mean, once that "novelty" of something that glows being moved about so it makes "rad" patterns, wears off, well, the interest last less time than a glowstick does.

And yes, mediteranian men (don't forget the Spanish) have zero respect for boundaries with women in clubs, but you have to realise that an entire generation of drunk (and loose) british slags invading that island each year gave them the idea....

TOMMYFROMLA - I'm sure Ibiza did make your brain hurt. In turn, your post made my brain hurt. I think you used them all in Ibiza, so here are some periods . . . . . . . . . and some commas , , , ,

Seriously, though, you really like pacha that much. I though it was the most dated, most coked, most VIP tables on the dancefloor, worst music policy, crappest crowded club out of all the amazing venues on that island.

Also, I saw Mark Farina at Vanguard a couple of mmonths back and had such a good night there - the crowd was all quite sophisticated but up for it, not a glowstick in sight, well dressed/made an effort (but not many loofers or v necks on display). I suppose the Farina following would be a bit more that way inclined but it also gave you an impression of the club being better than it was, if you know what I mean. I mean to say, when it's filled with crackheads, it can look like a crack den.

Well...can't really compare anything to Ibiza now can we?
Pacha I know is coming to Vegas. I've had the inside track on info about Pacha, Crobar, etc coming to LA. Nothing is in the works. Crobar was set and that fell through. And the fact is, no matter who comes to LA, it won't change things. LA is what it is. The club scene is always changing, but the core of the LA club and EDM scene will always be the same....or at least close to the same. I've gone from a glowsting swinging raver to Giant's promo director over the last 10 years...and just I enjoy it for what it is. When you want something different, go on vacation or move. I need a change. So I'm moving...and I'm sure when I do...I will miss the LA scene like crazy.

completely agree with you about pacha ibiza, my least favorite club on the island but i did like pacha barcelona. and really, brits??? the nicest, funniest guy i met while in ibiza was a british guy!!!! and the spanish weren't bad, atleast the ones we encountered. just the italians.
