Those who eat burgers in their car piss me off...
Those who follow me too close piss me off... If you are driving around 120 you should have min 60 meters distance...
Those who don't listen music in their car piss me off...
Those who chase people while driving piss me off...

Those who don't have sex in their car piss me off...Why not, car is a great place to have sex while driving or parking...though, I prefer parking spot in a foggy night....

overall, I do agree with all the comments above...

obviously, why would you enter when it's turning red

even if you enter the intersection on a green...if you can't clear the intersection before it turns red its a moving violation.

I never said you couldn't turn on an amber....all is if you can't clear the intersection before the light turns red its a moving violation and you are not legally allowed to enter the intersection unless you know you can clear the intersection before the light turns red.

Oncoming traffic must legally stop at an amber light if it is safe to do so, which means you should always be able to clear the intersection safely before the light turns red. A driver can't be placed at fault if he has to wait for other drivers gunning it through the amber - police would never ticket somebody for this, and even the red light cameras don't care unless you enter the intersection on a red.

You may be correct in theory but it's meaningless in practice. Traffic engineers and urban planners know this - that's why there's a delay after one set of lights turns red before the other set turns green.

Hell, even Young Drivers teaches that you have to pull out into the intersection when you're turning. You're even supposed to pull into the centre if it's a divided road for better visibility. If you sit at the intersection waiting on a green, you're a traffic obstruction, plain and simple.

and you know as well as I do that every day people wait until the light turns red before making their left turn. If the person wasn't sure they could clear the intersection because of oncoming traffic then they should not enter the intersection...doesn't matter if the light is green or amber....the HTA clearly states it is a moving violation.

Oh ya, here's another fav of mine. Ppl who enter a HWY and don't aggressively accelerate to be at the speed of the HWY when they're finally on. I shouldn't have to slow down just to let someone on. They think they're going to a Sunday picnic when they're merging on a HWY!

i despise this one too.

- people that turn right onto main streets without 2 clear lanes open. if i was changing lanes looking in my blindspot they would be dead.

- traffic jams on the 407/?!?! so rare but so outrageous when it happens.

- people who don't move over to the middle lane when a cop car/ broken down care is in the shoulder. move over dumbasses its also against the law when its a cop care not to mention foolishly unsafe.

- blackberries

Ask yourself what would happen if everybody waited for a "clear" turn before entering the intersection.

During rush hour and even at other times of day at several busy intersections, it's going to be a constant stream of traffic going the other way. It's illegal to enter an intersection on an amber. By your logic, it's also illegal to enter on green until there's a break in oncoming traffic (which there won't be - ever).

Nobody will ever get through the intersection. People would be legally required to sit there while the light turns green... amber... and red again. With a little luck, maybe one or two cars would get through. Within minutes you'd have enormous pile-ups and traffic jams everywhere.

I can understand the frustration at certain drivers starting to turn right at the end of an amber light and making a slow turn for 12 seconds after the light turns red and cutting into the advance green for perpendicular traffic. Truckers do this all the time around Highway 7 because they think they own it. Your version, however, takes this way too far.

If this law is actually on the books, it's idiotic. However - fortunately - I can't find anything in the HTA to corroborate what you're saying. I gave up on the HTA and tried a few Google searches and all I was able to find were a bunch of other people asserting this on internet forums - never a reference to an actual statute. Maybe it's in some U.S. State laws somewhere but it doesn't seem to be illegal here.

I've never heard of anybody getting ticketed or even given a warning for this anywhere in Canada. They teach you in driving school to pull out - just don't actually turn the wheels, otherwise if you get rear-ended you'll end up in the stream of oncoming traffic. I'm not sure if I still have the Driver's Handbook kicking around, but I wouldn't be surprised if it even says in there that you're supposed to pull out.

Whatever the law states or doesn't state, that is the only rational way for people to drive. And this thread isn't about people who do things that are illegal, it's about people who do things that are stupid. If you truly don't believe there to be a difference then I don't want you on the road either.

1) People who seem to be backing out but turns out they were only straightening their car to park in what would have otherwise become the only available spot in a full parking lot (not their fault but it really is quite annoying when that happens)

2) People who speed up and overtake you when you signal that you are about to merge into their lane( which is why i am one of the people who switches lanes without signaling)

3) Left laners driving at par or below the speed limit. MOVE!!!

I drive around the GTA for 12 hours a day, hundreds of things that other drivers do piss me off every day, but I have a few that stand out in my mind. Most of these have been said, but here I go:

People who drive 90 on the 400 series highways when the flow of traffic is 100+, when you drive significantly slower than the rest of traffic, you are an obstruction.

People who pull into the left-hand lane and refuse to pass the cars on the right, it's the fucking passing lane, if you aren't passing, get the fuck back in the lane you were already driving in. Bonus points to the assholes that merge into the lane in front of cars who ARE trying to pass.

People who merge onto the highway at -80. I know it's happening the second I see that run-down corola or voyager rumblin down the merging lane, but these people should learn to hit the gas and pick it up to a safe speed or stay the fuck off the highway. These are usually the same idiots that insist on driving 90 in the middle lane.

People who throw on their emergency lights and stop wherever the fuck they want to stop so their passenger can hop out and grab a newspaper/get the mail/drop off mail/pick their nose. Pull onto a side street or into the parking lot, if it's no parking, your emergency lights don't make it ok to stop!

People who don't follow their turn in lane-endings... An example would be the entrance to the 403 west from Eastgate/Cawthra where 2 lanes merge down to one. Smooth flow of traffic would dictate that one car from the right be let in, then the car on the left would follow while the NEXT car to the right merge in behind. But no, every day you get assholes squeezing into the left, or tailgating the car in front to block the car to the right. Learn to get along on the road people!

Posted by Prometheus Xex on Sep-22-2008 01:13:

How about this one...

You try to be as careful as you can backing out of a parking spot at the mall. You were very sure no one was coming. You back out very slow as you can't see because the car your parked beside completely blocks your view. Then it happens... some impatient asswipe honks their horn 'cause they're coming.

Why can't they be patient and let you out? They must know you cannot possibly see that they're coming your way at mach 17 and can't wait 20 to 30 seconds out of courtesy.

Posted by kotsy on Sep-22-2008 04:37:

People who drive at night on the highway with their high beams on. Seeing these assholes in my rear view mirror practically blinds me and forces me to switch into 'dark mode'

Posted by malek on Sep-22-2008 04:49:

2 lanes highway

Left lane clear, you drive at 120.

Two cars on the right lanes, both going at the same speed, say 100.

The second car merges on the left lane to pass the first one, but does so at the same exact speed as the first one... while you're coming at 120.

When you are on the road, you have to think that everybody else is an idiot expect you.

Posted by Jungle Fever on Sep-22-2008 13:48:

Assholes who merge right into an on ramp that is merging left. You have to get out of that lane, why the hell would someone turn right into it as everyone else is getting out. Complete dumbass.

Posted by NuERA on Sep-22-2008 15:04:

I thought of my third...

when people get on the highway on ramps and don't fucking step on it. who wants to enter the 401 doing 60.
