It was a little insensitive, but not everyone values food and the effort to make it as much as others. It was probably not meant to say that he wouldn't like your food, it was probably an old habit of his from growing up. I mean, if he didn't even taste it first and immediately wanted to put sauce on it, that is an indication that it wouldn't have mattered what you gave him, he would likely want to sauce or spice it up anyway.

Guys are notoriously bad for this. My ex wanted to put ketchup on everything, even if what he was eating tasted awesome on its own.

EDIT:

In the future, don't let this bother you.

Deal with it. That's a man. It's not ALL men but most want their meat, taters ,beer and pussy for dessert.

believe it or not, i pondered it. not that he doesn't love me, but whether or not the difference in food taste is a deal breaker.

he doesn't have a very sophisticated palet and i love trying new stuff and cooking exotic dishes. it's a huge part of my life (food lol) so the fact that he's just a meat and potatoes and beer type is kinda disappointing.

jesus christ. you could be a character in seinfeld.

i think it's just one of those things that you have to let go and not make a big deal out of. i mean there are more important things to worry about in life than whether someone "ruined" your home-cooked meal.

if he wants to be a picky baby about his food, that's his problem... not yours.
