There is an extremely long stretch of land in Australia, called the Hay Plains, where there is essentially nothing but desert for hundreds of kilometers. In one section, you can drive for about 3-4 hours before you reach another town. When I was about 15, my family and I were driving along this stretch. At one point, I noticed what looked like a big corrugated iron shed on the horizon. I took one glance and thought nothing of it.

About half an hour later, driving at 130Km/h+, the "shed" was still there. The only way it could have still been in our vision is if we were driving around it. However, The road through the Hay Plains is virtually straight, so it was not just an illusion of perspective. As I looked at the "shed", I noticed it was actually moving; darting back and forth, but always running parallel to the car. I told my parents and sister, who all noticed it too.

For about 3-4 hours, this thing was sitting on the horizon, seemingly moving in parallel to the car. To date, none of us have any explanation for it.

the house i lived in when i was in england was haunted.
3 stories, 200 years old, and i lived in it all by myself.

one night i heard something that sounded like someone was walking in the hallway.. like someone had a limp and had to drag their legs behind them.. freaked me out..

and this other time i was in the bathroom brushing my teeth before going to bed and i was 100% certain that something was outside the bathroom door, so i had to stay in there for a couple of minutes before i had the courage to go out lol.. and when i finally went out it was like there was this cold area outside it.

hallway xxxxx
-------|| ||--
bathroom

the x's are the cold area..

and also there where other weird stuff happening in the house, a cabinet door kept getting opened during night, even if i crammed alot of papers under it so it couldnt be opened by accident or stuff..

others have also seen things there. apparently the woman who worked there as a cook had been told by "the ones living in the basement" that they didnt like the door to the basement being locked, cus then they felt trapped. of course nobody lived in the basement, and the owner thought she was crazy.

the owner of the house was the woman i was employed by, and she had her business set up downstairs and i lived on the 2nd floor. but all alone during afternoon/night. she had moved to another house, but she had never seen anything, but tbh she is an alcoholic and got hammered each night..

i'm not really afraid of ghosts, except if they try to show themselves to me... there's nothing more scary than seeing a ghost who died in a terrible way...

i think ghosts usually resemble how they looked when they died...

Not me but my father has seen a few odd things...I believe that some people are more susceptible to experiencing these kinds of phenomena.

I remember he came home from work one day and was telling me about parking his car in the morning. His office car park had only one entrance/exit and lead to a dead end. He arrived really early one morning and pulled head on into his space, he noticed he was a little crooked so chose to try parking again. He looked over his left shoulder and saw a stationary car with a driver and a passenger in the back heading towards the dead end of the car park. Oddly they didn't look towards him or anything, he waited for the car to move off and instantly looked over his right shoulder and it was gone. There is nowhere the car could have gone in the split second it took him to move his head, and the car park was a dead end so the car would have to have performed a U-turn to get out of there. He couldn't explain it either.

Last week he had a slightly odd situation. He now lives alone and said a friend he hadn't seen in several months who lives a few hundred miles away sent him a text message asking how he was doing. He didn't respond to it just then and went to go and fix something on the house. He fell down the stairs and badly twisted his ankle and was swearing like a trucker. When he got back to the phone there was another text message from his friend and it said, 'What's with all the swearing?'. He lives in the middle of nowhere and he would have noticed anyone near the house.

Of course there is a perfectly rational explanation to what you saw and I think your best bet to have some peace of mind (which judging by your posts you seem to be a bit freaked out) is to grab a couple friends and try to recreate what you saw. Have them walk in different spots and see if they cast any shadow that resembles the one you saw. Although there is a light post right in front of you, I'm pretty sure there are other light sources around your block, so work with those as well.

Also, you mentioned that you live in a second floor of a three floor apartment. It is also possible that the shadow came from someone on the first floor walking around with the lights on. Of course I have no idea how your building looks like, where the windows are, etc. but it is a possibility.

imagine you are looking forward and you see a man walking in front of you, i saw a man walking in front of me but it was just a shadow moving extremely fast...

there was only 1 light source as i said

My friend told me a funny story.

She said that (she claims this is 100% true and I believe most of the things she tells me) her friend back in high school (which is like 16+ years ago) got bitten by a small troll-like creature that was about 5 inches tall; it just went and bit her on the calf.

She had small tooth marks the next day.

PS I sprint sometimes when I jog/run.. maybe it is a runner out for an evening jog? Maybe someone smokes crack in that area and freaks out when they hear you come out,.. and run for cover.

I love this guy.

One night a couple of years ago I had eaten way too much fried chicken and washed it down with way too much grape soda and was having a hard time sleeping. I must have been lying there for a good couple of hours when I heard some strange noises outside. At first it sounded like people talking, but their voices were muffled somewhow, then I heard what sounded like a barbeque being lit. Never one to turn down BBQ food I got dressed and went to investigate, when I found this:

I had no idea what it might be, or why it had been placed on my lawn. I think it might have something to do with aliens.

All I'm saying is take all possibilities into account, I'm sure there's a perfectly logical explanation. You may be biased, inclined to believe it was some sort of weird shit because let's face it...it was 5AM and you weren't completely awake yet and your first impression (which is the one that lasts) was one of "holy shit! what the fuck is that?".

Like I said, if you really want to figure this one out the best thing you can do is to try and recreate it.

Posted by spacechica on Sep-27-2008 17:26:

I'm getting goosebumps and the worst thing is when they try to move things or turn lights on.

My friend told me that she used to experience strange situations with what might have been ghosts or spirits and they would leave green discolorations on her bathroom sink or they would move her kitchen towel around.

something of sort happened to me while back. it was at night, i was sitting on the couch watching TV. my mom's got this shelf full of cool looking glasses placed upside down. the movie was about to finish and i was getting ready to go to sleep when all of the sudden out of nowhere i hear BOOM, i fucking jump off from my couch, look over to the shelf and i see one of the glasses just shuddered in to small cubic pieces. its like when there is a head on car collision and the windshield shudders into small pieces, just like that

i cant explain what caused glass to fucking explode in to pieces for no reason to this day

Posted by GoSpeedGo! on Sep-27-2008 17:40:

I think there's only one thing that happened to me and could be considered (slightly) paranormal.

On the 5th December, we have some kind of St. Nicholas celebration here in Czech Republic, and it's basically people masked as St. Nicholas (white-bearded old guy in a robe with a crook/sceptre in his hand), devil and angel, walking down the streets, St. Nicholas gives the kids some sweets, the devil scares them etc.

On this day -- I could be about 10 back then -- I went out on the balcony as well, just to watch what's going on outside. Suddenly I heard wings flapping on my left, so I quickly turned my head that way and for a hundredth of a second I saw something white flying very quickly next to the house. I don't know if I saw an angel, but one thing's for sure -- we never got any white birds around here.

something just like this happened to a friend of mine, he was far out of the city, in a town called puerto plata here in my country dominican republic, he was going to sleep over his cousins grandmas house which is over there, they came back at 3AM from some party and they find his grandma outside smoking, and they ask why are you outside?

and she says, its still in there, im waiting for it to leave.

and at this point his cousin knew what was happening but my friend did not.

my friend goes inside even tho the grandma told him not to, when he does he fills himself a glass of water, he turns around and when he looks back he saw the glass of water shatter right in front of him... and then it kinda exploded, he drove back to the city for 4 hours and didnt sleep 2 days straight.

i forgot to mention that my grandfather had passed away 3 days ago when that happened

I do remember one instance that can fall on this category, but thinking back it's obviously just what Oscar had said, state of mind.

I usually rarely wake up at night but sometime last year or two years ago I woke up and as I was lifting my head to I "saw" what appeared to be a cat just sitting next to me in bed and moving his head. I froze and slowly put my head back in the pillow and kept overlooking at the "cat", over the sheets. Finally when I gathered the courage to do something about it and smack the "cat" in the face I went full force and just ended up smacking the air. Nothing there.

I know, Catz Lawlzzorsz!!1

Aren't cats able to see ghosts?

This is not paranormal, but it's interesting nonetheless...

One night I woke up lying on the bed and saw this shadow in the dark looking at me.
I've felt strong pressure on my chest and couldn't move, nor make any sounds.
It was really creepy, just lying there helpless and unable to do anything.

However, when I woke up, I knew what happened.
Luckily, I've read about it before, other people who wrote about it have had exactly the same experience.

Apparently, when you enter the REM phase of sleep, your body becomes paralised so you don't move while you dream.
It is possible to wake up, at least partially, during the REM phase while your body is still paralised.
When something like that occurs, such things happen and you see things.
Or so I've read.

Sounds just like sleep paralysis.
