I'd say most of the country is aware of the contest.
I would hesitate to say that anywhere near the same amount of people are aware of CTV's plans for the old them.

and i definitely can't see the theme song that either network uses making a difference in their hockey ratings. Great that some geezers are nostalgic for the song, but at the end of the day none of them were tuning because the song, they were tuning in to watch some fucking hockey.

I was only pointing out that it's just another black eye on CBC sports. They have a history of making PR gaffes like this one, which, in case you didn't notice, led to a severe backlash in the press and canadian viewers. A more respectable network might have shelled out the extra few thousands of dollars in royalty to keep the theme for the sake of tradition. But not CBC Sports. You're right, who cares I guess.

i gotta say they all suck ass....sorry..but if someone was holding a gun to my head and i had to pick...i'd go for #4....

down to the final 2 now. I'm quite shocked at the ones they picked. I really hated #5 (or the now #1 of 2) (not hated musically, but hated as a theme for HNiC) so its funny, becuase i'm pretty confident the 13year old is going to be the winner now.

They all suck.

The thing about the original was that it was catchy from the very first few notes. It had that great opening sequence, then toned down for a bit, and then came back with that catchy tune again. It was recognizable from the first 3 seconds. all of these have buildups that are too long, and frankly, nowhere near as catchy. They just sound like run of the mill credits music.

BTW, Wtf is the guy in the Bell commercial saying? "Hello security?"

Edit: but if I had top pick, it'd be #1.

This time I listened to the final 2 without watching the clips. Listenning to them without video gave me a whole new perspective. 1. doesn't sound like a hockey theme at all, so I can't imagine it being picked.

i still say number 4 is the best..i can actually hum it..

my fiance picked the two finalists..he has not taste...lol

cbc fucked up big time by doing this.

these are all horrible and the kid will win, because people like to vote for kids.

of everything they had to change....you figure they could get rid of that idiot don cherry.

Already voted for my man Colin!! Loved his theme from the beginning but wasn't too impressed with what Bob Rock did to it.
