If Garmin runs on the Storm w/o any problems, I'll be getting one of these units also. Only if the Storm really runs that smooth & easy, I hope it does!

Everyone from Vodafone's art dept is getting fired!

Yeah, 4G LTE and shit like that.

Just give me friggin 2100MHz UMTS so I can use 3.5G on my N82

There's no battle here at all, the winner will be the Storm for sure and it will be a Global landslide. Cant really compare these units, they both have different target markets.

1.The BlackBerry Storm is made for business and if youre in the business field and you dont have BlackBerry, good luck with your day.

2.The iPhone is made for fun and entertainment, the games made for this unit is like a PSP + Wii and other eye flashy candy to razlle dazzle ppl. Imagine typing a serious e.mail to a client and your really out of time to submit it, dont even bother

PTA (Telecom governing body in Pakistan) has announced the issuance of 3G lisence to telecome companies in Pakistan so as soon as my carieer comes on board with 3G i will upgrade to E 71 which is the newer version of this puppy. One might say its bulky and hard to carry but for that i have this;

Pouch with belt clip

Posted by VERTiG0 on Oct-09-2008 01:27:

Yes Tyler, get the E71!

Having played with one for a while I can say that if I didn't really love the 5mp camera/Xenon flash in my N82, I'd own an E71 for sure.

it is true... both rogers and telus are planning projects to move to the new technology already - some time away though.

Posted by dEsidEL on Oct-09-2008 02:14:

so apparently the (typically cooler) European version which operates on Vodafone will be GSM - i.e. 9500

There was some intense talks during the summer of that happening sometime soon...

i work for telus, and i can tell you that is true since every single major operator out there will be migrating to 4G/LTE in the next 3-5 years GSM will be grandfathered technology

they WILL NOT SWITCH TO GSM!

what they will do is switch to 4G/LTE , because it would not make buisness sense for them to invest in 2/3G infrastructure when 4G is around the corner in 2 years time

my Telus phone is rock solid with no dropped calls EVER.

my Rogers BB flakes out at least 20% of it's calls.

i also manage 300 Rogers Blackberries at work (BES admin) and the users always complain about Roger's crappy connection.

Canada's Most Reliable Network? Roger's should be shot for their false advertising.

It sort of makes sense but then at same time it doesn't make any sense. Does that make sense?

What i am trying to say is that techonlogy changes rapidly. There is no debate on that point. Why not change with technology? I mean when 4G comes i am sure some whizkid somewhere in the world will have something much better in the works which will be introduced 2 years after 4G. This cycle will continue and i beleive only those will survive that can keep up with the rapid changes.

the cost of upgrading to 2G/3G GSM technology will cost almost the same or double, and today they made any annoucement that they will migrate to 4G by 2010 and the rest of the world like major GSM carriers will switch to 4G/LTE. They havent said they wont change at all. But change doesnt happen in one day?! that is the reality.

i understand what your saying but with change comes a cost factor, and that is to give you and example initially even rogers didnt buy into GSM it took them years to adapt it. They were lucky they won the FIDO auction also, so it worked in their favor perfect timing and execution. But now the time has come for change for CDMA carriers to change so embrace it with open arms

thank you pointless to switch technology to GSM within a year all major carrier will be 4G/LTE and all of you GSM fanboys/girls will come running and changing your handsets to 4G.

There's been a lot more rumors floating around that Microsoft is pursing to buy RIM.

Apparently there is a standing offer to buy them at $50/share. Since the decline of their stock by over 50% since June...this seems like it is possible, though highly unlikely.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Oct-10-2008 14:50:

has to be a rumour. There's no way MS would try to buy out a competitor to their Win Mobile platform, especially considering the competitor is as large as RIM. Frankly, I don't think MS has enough money to buy em.

HP and IBM have been rumored to be suitors as well.

I disagree... MS has a long history of buying out competitors. If they were to buy out RIM they would acquire the market leader in smart phone handsets and kill their principle competition to Win Mobile. This would give them control over the manufacture of nearly 30% of smart phones in circulation and an equal increase to Win Mobile's market share by having Blackberry users switch over. Finally, RIM shares are undervalued and undercapitalized right now so they are an attractive target.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Oct-10-2008 15:51:

You don't acquire a 26 billion company just so Win Mobile has less competition. It's a gigantic waste of money imo.
