Mine's not as neat as djx2's, but it does span 4 years!

that was kinda what a bunch of us attempted with the global excursion series, only those mixes were CD length. 6 hour idea sounds sweet though, maybe even make it 8-9 hours to simulate a club night!

as for the topic idea, it would probably be easier to maintain if each dj created their own archive threads and then have the sticky merely link to each one (with the dj's name, range of genres covered and how many mixes featured). basically pretty much the same as how it works in the tracklist forum

Posted by elFreak on Oct-09-2008 15:59:

the only thing to figure out would be how to do this, without bumping the people who just posted a new mix to shit.

sounds like a winning stunt!

The problem is there are a lot of DJs that post here... many of them just spam their mixes. (and aren't visible posters in other forums)

I don't think that'd be much of a problem at all, actually. Those kinds of posters aren't all that likely to participate in anything like this - I imagine they just click "new thread, submit reply" and are done with this forum.

I actually think this might be a good way for those mixes to get buried and the mixes of people who actually participate on TA to get some more attention.

Posted by elFreak on Oct-09-2008 17:56:

i do not see this as a problem, if there was any section of the forum that was for the spamming of sets i think this is the right one.

there is no rule for posting here if it is the only forum you post in, therefore this should not create an exclusion. Not everyone enjoys posting in other sections, and that is ok.

Indeed a very good idea. The search is a bitch, and I've tried searching for all mixes of some TAs by searching on threadstarter from the beginning.. which really takes some time.

On another EDM forum it's done much better on that aspect - you can click on someone's 'normal' profile and you also see one's 'dj' profile where you can see all sets that a DJ has posted and the thread linked to it.

What's your plan? Which direction are you thinking of going?

It would probably help those that get little attention get more exposure as well.

opinions?

Great idea! I think the best approach is to bond your idea with Rob's. Hear me out...

Have anyone who is interested create their own thread, and maintain it themselves. Trust me, those who do care enough to be a part of this and put enough effort into their work will do it. Then you can create and sticky a "TA DJ Set Archive Thread" pretty much like the one that is stickied in the "Tracklisting Archive" forum with links to all the DJ Tracklisting Archives. (i.e. this one )

I think that is probably the best approach to take without driving you nuts doing all the updates.

Just my $0.02

I'm always happy to host sets for people, since I get so much wicked music from all the DJs here, and I have way more disk space/bandwidth than I need, but I can't do it for everyone, obviously. It's a pretty busy forum

I really like the idea though Jay

Mai mixes links aren't dead yet

and if they do I bother to re upload them.

So we need to make a post on TA with out entire archive list and links, then send you the post id, so you can create a post with all the djs?

Posted by elFreak on Oct-13-2008 13:39:

you just need to send me a txt file with the track list, genre, label info (i want this to look clean and pro...i will ask for this it is good practice), as well as the link to the original thread so as they can comment if they so choose to. There will be no comments in this thread, just updates.

should i do it by genre or alphabetically?

Posted by kr00t0n on Oct-13-2008 13:46:

Right, think I got you.

Is label info crucial? I've never bothered with it, and certainly can't be arsed to backtrack and add it to 44 mixes

Posted by elFreak on Oct-13-2008 13:58:

I would say it is pretty crucial...promote yourself, promote the artist.

just slap vandit and armada on all of your tracks
