thanks for the reminder of "Paul van Dyk & Tilt - Rendezvous (Quadrophonic Remix)" ....that "sound" whatever it is, just amazing. Such a detailed song... love the sweeping noises in the background. It adds so much to the vibe of the track. kind of reminds me of BT - Godspeed in that sense.

All Airwave productions are great!
Other proggy ones I like:
Soldout - Maybe Tomorrow (Nova Remix)
Hydroid - What If
etc..

ISOS 4 is better in my opinion, when it comes to the prog.

1, 2 & 3 are so much better than this..

Posted by Funkesthesiac69 on Oct-16-2008 09:31:

I believe In Search of Sunrise 1-4 are all standout compilations and belong near the top of any ones all time trance compilation top 20.

I would rank it like this
1. In Search of Sunrise 4 (CD 2> CD 1 But both are amazing)

Not one filler track on the entire compilation
the highlights for me are
Twelve (dousk remix)
Luminary-my world (andy moor remix)
P.O.S.-Gravity
LNQ-People I used to Know
Sounds Rushing
UR
Palma Solane
Grayarea-Gravity(feat. erik shephard )

2. In Search of Sunrise
For 1999 this set is truly phenomenal in its lasting value and emotional quality

From York-The Reachers of Civilisation to The Sun Is Shining (Mash-up Matt Remix) the track selection is absolutely flawless and expresses so many different emotions. Especially the transition between The Reachers of Civilisation and Calling Your Name (Ferry Corsten Remix)
and BT's all time classic Mercury and Solace

3. In Search of Sunrise 2
Love the Intro build-up for the first 3 songs hate the 4th song and love.....
Eugina(Michael Woods Remix)
Perception
Dreaming
but don't like some of the filler tracks at all

4. In Search of Sunrise 3
Best introduction of the Series by far with Into the Fire/Hear You Now
Absolutely Amazing until about 30 minutes in but from when he Plays Your Body is A Temple onward I am not too impressed at all

But as far as great sets are concerned, Andy moor whether you think he is Trance or Progressive Trance is a matter of opinion but I would say he tends to play progressive (125-135 BPM) Trance

If You Want To Listen To A GREAT Progressive Trance(in my opinion) set DOWNLOAD Andy Moor-Live @ Black Sea Dream (3-29-2008)

The Best Part of this set is from 32 Minutes Onward although first 32 minutes are pretty solid with the exception of two tracks

compared to most trance artists i thought it was pretty progressive (talking strictly BPM here) and how it builds up

what makes a track/set progressive isn't only the bpm.

Sasha's 2 GU compilations. They're what originally got me into EDM & i never tire of them.
Disc 2 of GU009 is fucking superb.

Usually, the prog I listen, just flows. What I heard on that set, was more of the classic trance build up, climax, transition to next track. In prog, climaxes aren't that pronounced. If you get the chance to listen to, A State of Trance 2004 Disc 2, you'll get what I'm talking about. It just flows.

Yeah that is a great CD, but I prefer ISOS 4 CD 1 and 2 to ASOT 2004 CD 2 i think ISOS 4 flows better, but considering that those mix compilations are constructed primarily via computer and little mixing is involved with traditional mixers, I think that live at black sea dream set does a pretty good job considering andy moor doesn't use a laptop set-up he just uses a DJM-800 and 4 CDJ-1000 Mk3
Of course there are probably better examples out there I just thought I would share that set it is a recent favorite of mine

what do you think is the best progressive trance track out this year?
anyone?

Posted by Unable on Oct-20-2008 14:16:

"Progressive Trance" hasn't existed in the mainstream for many years... In fact I have no idea what the fuck constitutes "Progressive Trance" in 2008, it's far too subjective (obviously with "Progressive" in the name).

Anyone?

How the fuck does format make any difference to flow? It's all in the actual mixing and placement of tracks.

Exactly. Music that could be classified "Progressive Trance" in fact is is nearly unexisting these days. Yet, the majority of noobs tend to classify mainstream stuff preceding word trance with progressive, basing that essentially with one factor, that is track tempo.

Example that clearly proves that progressive trance does not have strict connection to track's tempo is recent Solar Fields album. That's progressive trance (psyprog), yet with tempos ranging between 138 and 143.
