Like I said though Traktor has that function. Hell you can beatgrid your shit and auto sync it if you really need to.

Posted by Adam420 on Oct-17-2008 19:26:

Wow really? I didn't even know that. I guess I never spent enough time exploring the program...

Posted by skip on Oct-18-2008 10:01:

gotta say i like the look of the current traktor scratch a lot better than the look of the new traktor scratch pro.
but functionality is the most important thing naturally and if it's better on the pro, then it's all cool for me.

Really? I've been complaining about the current Traktor look since I've been using it. I think the new one is a huge step forward in the pretty department.

yeah. i have no complaints about the look of the current traktor scratch other than the waveforms can be pretty unclear on some tracks. this pro version looks kinda amateurish and quickly put together too. also i'd like to have the option to get rid some of the stuff on the screen (dunno if that's possible) as i won't be using the effects or stuff like that most likely.

Posted by Ryan0751 on Oct-18-2008 17:46:

Well since Traktor Pro and Traktor Scratch Pro are the same app, it should offer the ability to configure the GUI.

The current version of Traktor Scratch is very fixed, but Traktor Studio lets you add/remove all sorts of things to your liking.

I don't think it looks amateurish at all. About time we get scalable fonts

That "Mulholland Drive" effect is the fucking tits!

In case anybody is wondering you can get a FREE update to Traktor Scratch Pro if you buy Traktor Scratch between now and Dec 31st. Personally I'm gonna wait to see what Ableton + Serato announce though

Posted by Ryan0751 on Oct-19-2008 23:37:

They JUST announced a partnership... it could be a year before a product comes out...

Unless they've been working together for a long time.

I have a friend that works for NI. I wouldn't lie to you guys

"Grace Period (free upgrade) for customers who buy TRAKTOR SCRATCH 1 between October 5th and December 31st, 2008.

We will ship white and red vinyl in addition to the existing black one"

So do you have to own Traktor Scratch plus the Traktor 3 upgrade? Or just Traktor Scratch? Because if it's the latter then that's a fucking steal...

Agreed. Wonder if it comes with naked lesbians.

Also, Traktor Pro looks like a Toy. Come on, it's like a matte version of the "glossy" layout.

traktor scratch upgrades to traktor scratch pro, traktor 3 upgrades to traktor pro

just checked out the vids and i'm so far at least impressed with the looping and hot cues, they might be just what i need to making my re-edits. now all i have to do is figure out a way to release the loops and hot cues as i don't have any midi controllers lying about and the xone:92's midi functionality is a bit limited.

i hope the looping and hot cues work the same in traktor scratch pro. from what i've understood, the only difference between the two is:
no timecode support on traktor pro
no internal mixer on traktor scratch pro

i really hope that is all.

You are mostly correct. They are the same application, scratch capability is enabled in the scratch version (plus you get the audio 8, and timecode vinyl/cd's obviously). All other features are the same. You DO have the ability to use an internal mixer on scratch pro now. Like I said, all features the same PLUS scratch capability. That's the only difference (as confirmed by N.I.).

Makes sense to simplify the product line, unlike the B.S. before about buying Traktor Scratch, upgrading to Studio to get 4 decks, etc. That's all gone.

You only get a FREE upgrade if you:

1. Previously purchased BOTH Traktor Scratch AND Traktor Studio.
2. Buy Traktor Scratch from now until December 31st. I'm not sure if you also need Studio?

Doesn't seem like you could buy Traktor Studio now, and expect a free upgrade to Traktor Pro. They bumped the price up to $229 USD.

yeah, i know i'm not getting the free upgrade, but if it will have stuff i need for making my re-edits (+ something else that's useful), i'll gladly spend the 79 for it.

and i really hope they include the exclude cue point feature someone suggested in the NI forums thread. if they made that, i'd be all set.

I ordered Traktor scratch pro today.

I rang them up and asked them if it was only being released on the 1st of if they already had it. They told me they have stock coming in today and it should be with me by Friday (which i doubt will happen)..

Selling serato tomorrow..

Hope i'm making the right decision eeeeekk.

nelly

Posted by elFreak on Oct-22-2008 23:27:

why don't you wait until friday to sell serato?

this would seem like the smart move to me.

Very true, but the bloke I sold (sold it tonight) serato to needed it for this weekend.

I've called the company i bought TSP off of and they have told me that it should arrive tomorrow. Fingers crossed it does.

Can't wait to get my hands on it

I am considering buying this when it will be relased (normal version, not the scratch one), however I have a total noob question: in the demo videos the dj is using external devices to use the programm in combination with the laptop tracker, is that really necessary? Or is it going to be fine just using the pc without any kind of mixer and midi controller?

Posted by Ryan0751 on Oct-24-2008 15:35:

You can use the keyboard and mouse, but it won't be very fun.

So what would you suggest to add for someone on a tight budget to maximize his experience with the programm? Already have a Motu external device and two dynaudio speakers, so from the sound reproduction point of view I should be fine.

VCI 100 maybe?

Posted by Ryan0751 on Oct-24-2008 16:59:

Bing bing bing. Seconded. This is a nice controller, very well built.

If you're really on a budget though, there are options from Numark and Behringer.
