Awesome night of music!
Sander K destroyed the Main room...
Prydz was 10x better than last year at the guv party...and he was having lots of fun haha. He jumping in front of the DJ stage while Sander K was spinning. Then at one point he was in the booth and covered Sander K in paper towels and covered him kind of like a Mummy lol
HILARIOUS lol
pics of that?
Also got a bit of the Stanton boys and was having a great time in the Drink!
Caught of bit of Ferry but didn't feel to much from him. Left a bit early as I was still kind of sick from earlier in the week.
Great night overall as i was DEAD quiet. Well, it wasn't that quite, but it was probably one of the quietest all access events i've been to in the last couple years.
He actually mashed up his remix of Madagascar into the Richard Durrand mix (Since Richard's mix is actually a mix of Ferry's mix
), was pretty dope
Holy epic trance ftw! \o/
Went to Lily for few hours to check the sound of NuERA. That boy is good, and perfect for warm up tunage before heading to guv. (Well, I did have a few gin caesars with way too much gin to get my head spinning. lol)
Met up Smuncky out of the blue at union and we went to timmy's for a quick fix before getting into guv. No KH line open so I thought line up was going to be long. But the damn dumpster blocked my view and I first thought the line was short, but it turns out the line was around the block. Eh. Met up with few TAs in the line incl my ferry partner Veronica and surprise guests of Cam and Sam. I haven't seen these peeps in a long time so it was good to see them.
Got in after about 15mins in the line. The price was 50bucks at the door. Some people got tickets from wantickets for 25 on the day. LOL.
Anyways, the time was around 115 and Prydz was having fun on the decks. Walking into the main room to the sound of Pryda - Rymd was not bad way to start the night. Gave Prydz till about 2 to give him a listen. Pretty good. Played a lot of his own tunes, but the set seemed really dumbed down compared to some other DJs who can weave a story with their sets. Was still pretty good though.
Love his Mark O hoodlum look with his toque on decks. lol
Someone said something about Stanton Warriors so I went upstairs to check them out. Interesting setup. Seems one guy was cueing up tracks, other guy was fiddling around with the mixer. Started up with some good funky breaks but kinda mellowed out for few tunes and dropped one helluva good tune around 230 mark. The Drink was crowded, but not so crowded that you're feeling like a sardine though. Still not enough room for breakers to really bust a move. Too bad.
Went back downstairs to Orange Room to hear some DnB. I think this is my first time complaining that the bass was too low at guv. Either way, couldn't get into DnB so went to KH for the sound of Ferry Corsten.
Ferry always has a special place in my heart for getting me really into EDM and trance. So I was very excited all week to catch him.
Good thing I went pantless because pants would have gotten in my way.
From 230 till around 430 was probably best trance set I've ever heard. Lots of high energy tracks with kick ass melodies that just got me moving like I haven't moved in a long time. When Stoneface & Terminal - Blueprint (club mix) got dropped, I was howling with glee because it was so fracking good. Probably my trance tune of the year. Bring Stoneface & Terminal to Toronto!!!
Ferry probably one of few DJs that use tech trance (well, techier trance) as a filler to calm the crowd's energy before unleashing more bombs. LOL. There was this one Marcel Woods ish tune that was dropped that was pretty damn good.
The crowd started to empty out noticeably around 400 and the set's energy slowly dropped around that time. (gave me tons of room to pounce around like grasshopper on seizure though) From 430 to 530 was just ok and I think Ferry just went to closing mode after 530 with some classic ferry tunes. He did look very tired, though he was still having a good time on the decks. Oh well. Was very disappointed that he only played until 630, because although KH was only about 1/4 full at that point, those that stayed were the true Ferry Corsten fans and we would have danced our asses off. So because the expectation was an 6hr set till 8am, a lot of people were disappointed. Oh well.
All in all, it was another great event at the Guv. I missed good trance live and I definitely got that with Ferry Corsten.
The Guv is one of Ferry's fav venues and he def. brought his A game
Overall: 9/10
Tune of the Night: Stoneface & Terminal - Blueprint (Club mix)
Random thoughts:
-the crowd was def smaller due to Thanksgiving, esp after drinking crowd left. Oh well. More room for dancing!
-the sound system at KH was bang on, except it was just a bit too loud. good to hear the mids (and the melodies!) or else the night would have sucked
-Nadatron... I <3 you. Thanks for challenging me to bring my A game for the night
-speaking of Nada, someone saw Nada without stilettos and was like, oh, looks like Nada is putting herself at disadvantage without her stilettos.
-Smuncky, after seeing Nada bust out one combo of moves that left a hole on the floor. "She's just warming up" LOL
-Saw Del and I almost got to see the Deltron shuffle. bah
-Veronica, my Ferry partner! The night was so much better with your enthusiasm. <3
-it was awesome meeting some TAs I didn't know before
-the NO2 tank outside the guv... it's leaking pretty bad. I'd get the tubes checked out...
-Cale, you owe me for convincing you to come out
-following people were missed out on ferry extragavanza: lisa, danielle, laura, spitty
PS: You can't look dignified when you're having fun!

Just shows to prove how similar Richard's track really is
prydz played good but sander owns me.
watching eric was quite the show. he launched the roll over paper towel, launched a glowstick and wouldnt leave that balloon alone. definitely good times.

Off topic a bit, I think the turnout wasn't that great because 1) Thanksgiving and 2) tickets cost too much for an event with only 3 big acts(price should have been reduced once Junkie XL cancelled)
