Yes, unfortunalty Mark Spoon died. Jam & Spoon gave me nice memories. I can remember hearing this one at the Dockside in Belgium, in that time the biggest club in Europe, great 43 seconds lasting intro:

Jam & Spoon - Right In The Night

Also sad that God's Groove didn't make more than one album, because many loved their tracks.

ok i think i got to be a bit more aggressive with my recommendation, too

check this out and imagine a 15min long intro version (got that on vinyl), its the perfect autumn track:

cold - strobelight network (short version?)

Posted by rawbound on Oct-16-2008 20:25:

remy & roland klinkenberg - ignite (introdubtion)

Hmmm, already fell asleep listening the short version. Did they like the intro that much that they forgot the rest of it

you are partly right, this is only 110 bpm. so you have to speed it up quite a bit, then its really nice

Planet Funk- Inside all the People...I forget who did the ambient mix of it, but Sasha used to play that in the beginning of his sets in 2004 I believe or even earlier.

As member of the forums, PaulNovy, posted this track in the producers section. It has been one of my favorite intros this year:

Glenn Morrison -- Contact vs Planet Funk -- Chase The Sun (Paul Novy MashUp)

this.

nah it's impossible to pick a track.

i like starting with koss - earth (koss self remix)
chez damier & stacey pullen - forever monna
i:cube - adore
2raumwohnung - ich bin der regen (mvo remix)
mudd - spielplatz (quiet village rmx)
sonar lodge - nightshade
lerosa - tempio
pete namlook - je suis triste et seul ici
minimono - speak as you eat

also have to echo shinkansen...

ending tracks like:

claro intelecto - beautiful death
los hermanos - midnight in madrid
moodymann - entrance to the garden
francesco tristano - the melody (c2 beatless mix)
sunpeople - check your buddha
villalobos - 808 the bassqueen faded out after a long while
daniel stefanik - rizzla dub
deadbeat - qutting time
quiet village - utopia

too many to name really, and it very much depends on the set and setting

Intro:
+1 for Grand National - Talk Amongst Yourselves (Sasha Involver Remix)
Also used to smash Man With the Red face - Laurent Garnier (Original)
Pete Namlook - Je Suis Triste Et Seul Ici, which I only heard recently in one of Adam Vana's recent live sets. Gives me shivers down my spine.

Outro:
Push - Strange World (2000 remake) or Till We Meet Again.
I'm a really big fan of Push/M.I.K.E. and I just think these two are brilliant for closing a trance set. Would probably have picked different tunes for other genres but I'll stick with these for now.

I would like to add this dark beauty.

Momu - Donner Pass

perfect starter for a dark prog set.

Hmm, you figure that the preferred intro version of this track would be the "Melting Intro mix"

It's the one that's found on the first disc to Andy Moor's 2005 "In Sessions 02" mix comp.

Posted by Neo95gt on Oct-17-2008 02:09:

Arksun - Arisen, is a pretty killer opening song

Alot of West songs are pretty good openers as well

Nah man I like Martin Garcia's Version better after all he is basically like the 2nd most popular dj in argentina that's argentinian besides Hernan Cattaneo..LOL
yes I know I am pretty partial
but w/e

Posted by Schizophrenia on Oct-17-2008 02:40:

Would like to further add some awesome intros:

The Mfa - The Difference It Makes
Apparat - Wooden

I wonder if we're going to see another Cattaneo mix comp before the year is out.

Considering that they all tend to sound pretty distinctive from each other, it's something I'd be very interested in hearing.

That said, although he remains one of my favorite acts, he's lost a decent amount of steam with me ever since the noticeable shift in style that developed around 2006 or so.

Just isn't resonating with me as much as he used to.

2002-2005 Cattaneo, on the other hand: gold

By the way, we need to hit up the Taco Bell on Mission next time I'm over there!

That's what I forgot to mention.

First heard it as the opener to Holden's 'At The Controls.'

Outstanding!

im sorry to correct you but "808 the bassqueen" is by ricardo villalobos

also

2raumwohnung - wir sind die anderen (ricardo villalobos remix)

is a great outro. those voluminous strings...

edit: and you are right about beautiful death, but it depends on the definition of an outro track, many beatless tracks are great (by robag wruhme for example). i thought about tracks which are "mixable" and then turn ambient.. but they are quite hard to find
