yeah, that's the life...

don't get me wrong though, I'd take that over what my future career will be any day, but it's not always peachy.

What this guy said.

Famous, eh? Well that depends on how involved in the scene you are. If TAers know about a DJ they might not be famous, if they get an Essential Mix, or if they hit the billboard chart then perhaps...

Depends if you care much about your family, friends and the like. My father travelled on business for pretty much all my childhood and it wasn't as glamorous as you suggest it might be. There was a stretch for a few years where I saw more of him in Southern California than I did at the family home, almost 6000 miles away!

If you're a single guy who enjoys seeing different places every week then I'm sure it is great. Don't be under any illusion though, business travel isn't all it is cracked up to be, that does depend on your company travel policy though...my first trip was on a private jet staying at the Four Seasons. I wasn't complaining.

Well there are some measures of 'rich'. Merrill Lynch/Capgemini World Wealth Report notes that using their standards 'Ultra High Net Worth' is US$30m+ in assets, and HNW is $1m+.

I think 'rich' is more a state of mind though, not necessarily directly related to financial assets. This coming from someone who worked in investment and financial planning

I don't respect any dj that wants or desires fame in one way or another.

keep it underground...

although I appreciate the faceless person behind the decks as much as the next guy, I think it's inevitable for even the most underground DJs to become noticed at least locally if they are playing out a lot.

I guess it depends a lot what is meant by "fame" - most of the "famous" electronic musicians I've encountered have a deeper connection to sounds or the scene and the "fame" is basically a by-product

Yeah, once more than 5 people like something, it's not cool to like them any more. Damn sellouts!

I'm an underground DJ right now and it doesn't really pay well.
