"Radio Unity is back.

After a year of radio silence my monthly radio show is back in da buziness! Even if it's a business with no money involved I did a monthly show for Finnish National Radio for almost ten years but when stopped doing it in late 2007 I was looking for a more international and web focused alternative as I see the future of radio (for alternative music at least) heavily in the web.

Couple months ago discussions with Afterhours.fm resulted in getting a monthly one hour slot on this trance radio. Ah.fm has simultanous listener figures of around 1000 people - making it one of the most popular EDM channels out there (alongside di.fm, etn.fm & protonradio.com) with the likes of Markus Schulz, Blank & Jones, Kyau & Albert, Marcus Schossow and Lange holding residencies.

My show will air every third Wednesday of the month at 21:00-22:00 CET (+1 GMT) meaning 22:00-23:00 Finnish time. The show will focus mainly in melodic progressive house and progressive trance with occasional psy-trance, breakz, techno or chill-out cuts featured as well. AH.FM is a true diehard trance channel, but personally I put music in two genres: Good and Bad and try to play the Good stuff in my sets Also nowadays I tend to find lots of music with a strong trance-like feel and vibe (melodic, hypnotic, driving, atmospheric) which is labeled something totally different.

The show will be "music only" for the time being but let's see if it will become a "properly presented program" in some point.. Episodes will also be available the next week after the airing as podcast from my website. Podcast info and tracklist coming up always to:

Great news!

I still play your "Scandinavia 002" mix and thought that reviving the Radio Unity show would be outstanding and here it is. Fresh tracklist, especially when compared to what most Trance DJs play these days. Will your remixes of "Ajare" and "Two Full Moons & A Trout" be released? The second one will be featured on Union Jack's new album, I believe?

I still do consider myself a trance DJ even if lot of the records I play are labeled progressive house, psytrance or techno. I'm just looking for certain qualities (melodic, hypnotic, driving, emotional) in music and currently I tend to find that my "tranceness" in lots of other genres too. Like that Tarrantella track which is basically a 123bpm house track but very trancey in it's feel and mood.

I'm not sure what will happen with either of those. Union Jack remix is made "on spec" meaning that Platipus will release it if they like it and see an interest in it. I haven't spoken with Simon about including it on the forthcoming Union Jack album but that would make sense to me Btw, the remix version of 'Two Full Moons & A Trout' that I've played is far from finished. Maybe 60-70% there but I just wanted to test it on gigs and in radio to get some feedback which so far has been very promising.

Way Out West's 'Ajare' is more tricky because DeConstruction (the label who released it originally and still own the rights as far as I know) doesn't exist anymore so releasing that is a big question mark. Certain high profile trance label has showed interest in releasing both of these as an EP if the release on original labels wouldn't work out.

So to summarize it: I don't know but hopefully both would be out latest this summer

Yes, I didn't want to call it into question, just say that the track selection is far away from that typical mainstream trance, which most of DJs play .

I've read on TA that Union Jack are planning to release "There Will Be No Armageddon" plus remixes, so maybe your remix will be among them? They may also want to wait and put it on their new album, but it's said to be published in Autumn :/. Anyway, it's a great remix, just like their new works - "Papillon" and "Swarm".

Tomorrow Wednesday the 18th of February is the airing of my second Radio Unity show on Afterhours.fm. If you can�t make it live you can listen through web player on my site or download the podcast starting next Monday. This time the focus will be in a slightly more trancey sound with some fresh material from the likes of Andy Moor, Gareth Emery, Sebastien Leger and Adam K & Soha. RADIO UNITY 003

March edition of Radio Unity (on Wednesday 18th) will be quite an atmospherical one. It's inspired by lots of travelling around frozen Finland working as soundtrack for crisp winter days and blue morning moments. Musically it ranges from warm electronica through melodic prog house to progressive trance and even a hint of old school Goa-trance...

There are some usual suspects like Jerome Isma-ae and Simon & Shaker delivering the goodies while also some fresh new producers who've cought my attention lately.
