.50 should be large enough to take it down with a reasonably good shot. Try to remember the lungs on a T-Rex are a huge target and no matter how large it is a 6" diameter hole torn through it's lungs is going to bring on death pretty quickly. Besides, a t-rex isn't really something for a human to fear as they simply couldn't catch us... they're far too unbalanced to corner as quickly as a human and can't keep up the case very long so avoiding them would actually be relatively easy. Don't let the movies fool you.

Or just run into some woods. T rex would be too bulky to move through a forest at a fast pace. Supposedly, t rex wasn't a hunter anyways.
