-- Burial - Archangel (Nomad In The Dark Re-Edit)
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
Totally needless. Not to mention it's bad to boot.
Hey Guys thanks for the comments. Both this and the Sasha remix were tracks that I did for the GU message board. They were never supposed to get as big as they did and I appreciate the criticism.
With the burial remix the only reason I wanted to do something with it was to make a dj playable version of a track that I loved. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I have always said that my remixes pale in comparison to the originals which remain bastions.
keep up the good work nomad , hope to keep hearing great stuff from you in the near future

Considering it's an amauter remix and you wanna get some attention, it's okay bro.
Feel free remixing Burial's stuff, Madonna, Michael Jackson or whatever.
As I said before both these( and other) remixes were done due to purely personal reasons. These were tracks that I liked and wanted to play out and share with likeminded people. Im glad they blew up but Im not looking to be another mark knight or Funkagenda. Im a family man with a job and only produce as a hobby. So if you like the output thats great, and if not that thats great too as Im not here to defend the music as purely the listeners personal choice. Ive been doing this for a very long time and will probably do it for the rest of my life even if nothing ever hits it big again. I do it because I like it.

I'm always skeptical of people who rush in to defend a track, saying "it sounds so much better live!" But, uh, it really did sound better live. That stabbing bass synth is irritating, but I don't remember hearing it at all when I heard it played out. And the track wasn't allowed to linger, it was a quick mix in and a quick mix out, maybe like 2 or 3 minutes total - which prevented it from overstaying its welcome (and, listening to the full version, it does). Maybe I had had a bit more to drink than I remember.
Feel it's like Valentino effort on Nathan Fakes Ouhouse. Even though it's not close to the original, it's a good effort and not dishonour in any way. Do you really have to beat the original to make a decent remix?
Here is my original posting from the GU website back in September that should convey the sprit this remix was done in.
Did a remix/ reedit of Burials archangel. I was hoping for something slow and dark but it ended up sounding like this. I know its hallowed ground for many, so im sorry if this offends you. Take a listen
Im not too worried about it though, as I got a lot out of it. All of my favorite djs, Digweed, Nick Warren, Hernan etc championed it, Pete Tong played it on the Essential Selection and kode9 and even Burial himself wrote me and said they were happy that their music had inspired me so much. At the end of the day what more can one ask for. Though it would be nice for it to get released but one cant expect a diehard dub-step label to all of a sudden start releasing house tunes.
