-=- Dance 2 Da Beat Weekend -=-

Before I went to bed, I got a call from Daniel ("Fairy Godfather" on TA.) Daniel's always been a mad supporter of D2DB, always offering something... this D2DB no different, as he donated 18 baskets from the body shop. Wow. Floored by the generosity. Daniel, mad appreciate it... loved the pink shirt, u matched the decor.

Wake up in the morning, Mils and I smash down a sick breakfast of waffles with maple syrup (pure french canadian maple syrup) with fresh fruit we picked up in china town.

Writer's Note; They have this SICKASS apple/pepper thing in china town that is one of the best damn fruits I ever had in my life... my GOD, delicious!

Jason Hooper (Trance Addict's OWN urban legend, or something like that...) was gracious enough to drive us to go pick up the CDs. My CD guy is absolutely wicked, made 500 + cd's in two days... kudos to SHELDON for designing CD covers, labels and sleeve. He is the ABSOLUTE man. So, after driving to pick up the CDs and having a fairly interesting conversation on where it would be possible to buy plastic boats that kids use in the bathtub, we grabbed some gr33k food (ha-ha miss k, I got hoops to eat something that wasn't potatoes, roast and gravy) and headed back home.

Mils got the CDS prepared, put them in order as I finished up checking out some last minute choons I considered playing. Being a MOMENTS DJ, I believe all sets should have MOMENTS.... I wanted to hit mine EARLY... so I asked Fab Strong for an acapella that pretty much I'm sure only Fab Strong has, wanted to used it because it had "can you dance to my beat" on it...
thanks Fab!

Got my CD book ready called a cab and headed over to Footwork at like 7. I called Jon Jon to let him know the snow cone machine guy will be there 15 minutes before I and Jon Jon ya - ya ed me and boogied out.

One of my best buddies shawn (who worked door all night with NO pee break... TROOPER) drove and picked up a HELIUM tank, Justin Chung, who was going to play the electric violin to my "paddy's revenge" (irish jig) song I played met me at my house, so as we all rolled into footwork.... we meet up with the snowcone machine dude, who gives us a "tutorial" on how to snowcone... and then do a soundcheck for the violin.

The YM ladies rolled in full affect and began streaming up streamers and balloons... thank you in no particular order (mils, liz, barb, elayna, hutch, carrie, mils) for all your decorating skills. Also to Sean for driving down from buffalo and helping out in the decor. Katie, Hooper, Adam and Rachel rolled in... helped finalize the set up... Kudos to Miss Rachel for taking the bull by the horns and getting pink lays, selling them for 2 bucks each.... sold them all out, a HUGE hit at the bash!

9pm hits... it's START TIME...

But greek... well done haha

Just joined TA today!!! Dunno why I wasn't on this before.

WOW...another great D2DB

I am beyond proud of you Ace. I am so happy I get to be apart of something that is so special and means the world to you. Your passion and drive is inspiring. Thank you for everything that you do.

The whole night was great. Sean, Elayna and I arrived a little later than anticipated...The weather was not working in our favor. Got to Footy around 8 I believe and helped decorate. It was fun seeing people throughout the night dancing with ballons in their hands.

Milena and I had a little mishap with the sno-cone machine which involved grape syrup exploding all over...mainly on me.
Nathan - "you got grape on yo face" ... obviously lol

The music was great...all of it. Roaches vs YM...WOW...my favs! "Carlo fuckin Lioooo" was in my head all morning...so funny.

Thanks to everybody that was apart of D2DB...

Ace & Milena did such a wicked job with this. Love you both. Can't wait for the next one.

Had a blast at this event. I so wish I could have stayed longer for this and stayed for your set Dave, but it wasnt in the cards for me.

BIG PROPS TO DAVID ACE.

The man amazes me, such a big heart and fuck can he throw down a tune, so everyone knew this night was going to be epic. But the organization, promotion and just yern to help this cause makes Dave a man among men.

Lee Osbourne and Val smashed it in my opinion, Paco was alright but I think its what made me so tired. I really wish YM and Roaches were mid night but you do always leave the best for last.

Good seeing so many familiar faces and so many smiles, everyone was just in a great mood, not even 15 hours of shit down rain could kill the atmosphere.

Can't wait for the next one.

BTW Greek Food FTW!!!! Anything, anytime for team Milenace!

So I'm not too good with words and a bit shy but I'll say this...

For weeks before the event I had a flyer stuck to my body promoting it, as Miss K had said in one of her posts, something I started doing since the first d2db I was involved in. I had tons of ppl coming up to me asking what it was, and when I explained to them what d2db meant they were in awe and were absolutely amazed at what we were doing.

So what can I saw about d2db5....AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. Amazing turnout, amazing people all to support an amazing cause. I was running around the whole night making sure things were going well, and I must admit I was exhuasted..but the vibe kept me going and not to forget the AMAZING music all night long, all the djs did a fantasic job!!

Overall it was a successful night, thanks to all that came out, thanks to all who came to support and thanks to all for showing ppl how much this scene can come together to do some good, you all rock!!

This event has become a part of me..thank you babe for coming into my life. I am priviledge and honoured to share this event/charity with you, like I said before team milenace is gonna take this event to another level. Love you

ps: you didn't see me but I was reading your post on the dexter episode and I started crying again..your words move me beyond belief.

Thanks again to everyone for all the support..we'll see you all at D2DB6..can't wait

The reviews from these D2DB parties always make me smile. In a scene that is sometimes criticized to be plagued by cliques and elitism, it's refreshing to see everyone from the organizers, to the volunteers, even to the partiers coming together to support a cause as noble as this one.

I definitely can't wait until D2DB6.

Smiling Frog

The night started and people started rolling in, I always love the early part of the night when the "mingle" is occurring, the early start time keeps it different then any other event which I always thought was a must have, people need to mingle, it's a community event, we'll party, we'll dance, we'll rock the f out.

Zeina did an excellent job in her Debute @ footy, some technical difficulties with the equipment occurred but hey, this is the business. Good work Z.

Cam Maxwell played next, now mind you, musically, I really wasn't able to focus on beats, but from what I heard... it was SICK...

Birthday CAKE tradition continued with Cara, Tristan, Lee (Osborne) and Tamara (who unfortunately got sick) all getting the D2DB honour.. that originally started with dimitri and the lovely Miss K. I think it's a vital part of D2DB, something that will continue... cakes at parties seems like a no brainer to me!

There is a picture of Tristan that Milena took that is worth about 100,459 words.

LINE of the NIGHT goes to Rachel Finan: I got fifty dollars in ME bag...

So sick.... lol, god bless the english!

I took a little time to watch Lee Osborne as he's one of my favorites and don't get a chance to hear him often, stood on the stage, the platform and watched incognito to the crowd. Lee was the first to get four cakes baked by the lovely Chantal B.

Val, you can tell was a man possessed. You can tell the D2DB means as much to him as it does me, he played with his heart and soul and he rolled over cancer that night with beats that were uberly disgusting, also setting up Paco Osuna for a HEAVY set.

That, that he did...

Paco was fucking phenomenal, I was blown away by his layering, his sick ass drops, his absolute carnage in the world of techno... Paco Osuna was on fire.

Actually, as YM-Roaches were coming on behind Paco... I actually whispered in Paco's ear, you were worth every fucking penny, next time, charge me more. The gracious Osuna thanked me for booking him and letting him be a part of it. It wasn't the first time an international was blown away by Dance 2 Da Beat, which in itself is a huge compliment.

I threw on my "Barato - 99 leaf jersey"

(the story behind that, I HATE the leafs, but LOVE NaNa... and why 99? Well, Nathan IS the great one.)

-=oh, BTW ... Nathan had the biggest donation at D2DB, NaNa won a NaNo.-=

Playing the Electric Violin (Justin Chung) was something I thought was SUCH a cool moment, Justin did a fucking sick job self teaching him a track I play. I thank Justin for volunteering his services... and using his skills to play into my style.

I was STOKED to play "Music is the Answer" mashed with Pjanoo all week, was basically singing it all week. I'm a "moments" dj, Nathan described it to me, I play for the "moments" that was definitely one of my favorite moments playing... EVER

SICK job by Roaches and my YM crew... BIG UPS... we didn't get to do it on the boat but was sooooo worth the wait playing with Carlo and Nathan. Absolutely amazing DJs, even better people... and even better friends.

Thanks to everyone, I enjoyed it. We'll hopefully see you all at D2DB6... I'm thinking mid spring... we'll see how bad people start asking and pushing for it

Kuddos to The Dragon, Scott Schilling playing a SICKKKKK drum.

Also, all the YM ladies... FUCKING awesome moment dancing on the speakahs... absolutely wicked shots... wicked to see you vibing the beats... thanks to everyone who gave us the energy to do what we love...

you push us, we push you... we push together.

<3

Thanks for making it another successful D2DB, let's see what we can do for the NEXT ONE!

- Keep the reviews coming..

IF you got pictures, please post them up on the D2DB facebook group...

Tommy, SICK SICK SICK montage.

all <3 people and nothing but!

and Mils, your review was dope... no need to be shy, anyone dares rips you on this site, I'll send nada RIGHT after them!

You don't F with Nada on TA... even __I__ know that!

I can remember her begging "please stop, god.... please please please" in this faint, heavy french accented painful wimper that will never leave me to this day.

That's a seriously heavy life situation.

Hopefully the succeesses of your d2db events will prevent someone else from experiencing the same thing.

I almost forgot to right a review for D2DB...

I decided not to focus my review on the djs We all know the djs were top notch. Toronto is continually spoiled with the talent, parties and over all vibe of the scene.

I wanted to express my appreciation for David Aiello (aka David Ace). This guy This guy pours his heart and soul into the D2DB, the djs, venue, crowd and total outcome of these events. The fact that he has a reason means far more then just your average person who wishes to make change, give something back or lend a hand. I thinking raising money to give to cancer is truly a great thing. I also wanted to thank Milena for spending countless hours assisting Davids with ideas, and running around to get the jobs done.
I also wanted to thank the people who spent time, helped organize, lent a hand, and every came out to support this truly wonderful event.

For those simple reasons. Dance2DaBeat is and will remain the # 1 event in Toronto.

Highlights..
-paco's set (amazing)
-lee obborne's set (amazing)
-vibe, friends
-snow cones (OH MY GOD SICK)
-Justin playin Violin
-Dave Ace's opening tracks... bonkers
-How late the party went (5:30)
-Photo's of previous D2DB's (so meaningful)

P.S Ack Cancer
